Block A singing section next season? 15:26 - Mar 20 with 8420 viewsMatt_Netherlands

Does anyone sit here and can verify if this is legit? Does this mean the BA move is going again?

Hope it's true. Worked fantastically well with Fortuna in there for the Plymouth game, then Blue Action in there for the cup.

Did anyone think the atmosphere improved when they trialled it?

My initial reaction was that it seemed the same but I wasn’t in my usual seat so hard to compare.

Still think a better solution is to spread the ‘singers’ across the lower north so the whole stand is singing as one rather than two sides singing different chants.

That's good news I think. This season we've seen the whole ground getting involved again and it really makes a difference. Nobody expects the oldies (in my fifties myself) to know every chant but getting people clapping along all around the ground can make for a really intimidating atmosphere.

Wonder if anyone has considered how the players feel about it or consulted them? They now won’t be able to see / interact as well with our loudest most active fans (goal celebrations etc) so might they not react quite as well to that? Just a thought….

Isn't it just the teens moving over to the new signing area with the usual signing lot remaining in the sir Bobby stand?

Why would that work? Surely you're just dispersing small uncoordinated groups across the stand to be surrounded by the same people who aren't singing now? Not sure why the groups petitioning for a "singing bloc" would want to be broken up and separated from their mates either.

To bring together a big group to (hopefully) make a big noise, you need to be able to sell tickets in blocks to groups, I presume we've chosen Block A because it's the only suitable space where the existing season ticket holders are sparse enough to not be a problem.

Won’t be able to see them? They are about 1.5m higher up than they are in the NSL… not on the moon

I normally sit SBU but sat there during he Burnley.

Honestly was a great experience - people of all ages, no trouble, the drum was going and people were there to enjoy it and back the boys.

I think it’s a great idea - if you want that sort of match day experience, there is now a designated section in the stadium for it.

Look forward to this next season!

Next moan from some of the S6 lot (not the inner circle of BA), will be the price of STs in Block A, can’t see the club reducing them in price just for them, and they are more expensive than the North Lower.

Nice one. Let's hope it's a step in the direction of a "safe standing" section(s) being brought it now they are allowed.

This was going to be my question, how are they going to manage the ‘singing section’ wanting to stand? Just let them get on with it?

Seems strange doing it now when the club plan to knock down/rebuild the cobbold within the next 18-24months

There’s never a good time to do knock down and rebuild a stand but imagine the nightmare logistics of they move ahead in the next couple of years with doing that. Reduced capacity while team is on the up is madness. And where would you put away fans. If we’re L1 still easy to stick 127 Accy fans somewhere, not so easy with 2k championship fans.

Ashton seemed to be playing down any major work on Cobbold when interviewed recently, certainly did not appear to me that this would be in the next couple of years. What makes you say 18-24 months?

IMO the problem isn’t always that there aren’t enough willing singers but more that you have two sides of the stand singing different chants. If you could get more of BA spread across into S5 and further, it may be easier to get the same chant going across the whole tier.

Hopefully I’m wrong and the place is rocking next year.

Not really sure why people are struggling with this suggestion so much. Players feed off the energy of a crowd so surely you’d want the loudest section of said crowd as close to the pitch for the players to get as much impact from as possible. You can notice it when we score - players celebrations at the SBRL end are much more involving of the fans and much closer so them, compared to when we score at the SAR end.

Can’t think of many other grounds that have a ‘Singing section’ in an upper tier….

So apart from goals scored at the SAR when we have seen players run to both conners to celebrate, and the goals we score at the SBR end when the players head towards the Cobbold, you are concerned that some of those in section 6 are moving into section A? And Hurst ran towards and saluted the Cobbold lower on Saturday.

I think the players will be fine.

Good good! How are they going to prioritise tickets? Will the BA lads get first pick or is just going to be a free for all?
