I am the only fan who is surprised by how ridiculously excited on 10:47 - Apr 7 with 2814 views | SomethingBlue | It's insane, it's taking me right back to my 17-year-old self in 2000, this level of nerves and excitement before every game are something I thought had long gone. I guess there was the Norwich play-off but that felt different again, always felt we were big underdogs and the run-in was not quite as fraught with jeopardy until we nearly threw it away at the last. This might be a division lower but it's something else and the sheer enthusiasm I sense in all corners of my ITFC-supporting world is unlike anything in over two decades, it's special and I just hope we make something big of it. One big blur.... 6 weeks before I can get back on track..Its insane, as one week just melts into the next.....(Is it even healthy?)...Fk knows, who cares, you only live once. And these kind of seasons haven't t come along too often in my lifetime... I'll be playing catch up, on quite a few neglected tasks, once this season has reached its finales.. And some serious planning, to get ahead, ready for next season..

I must have gone 15+ years without going to an away match. Jobs, family, responsibilities etc.. I have now started taking my eldest to some and he had his first away win at Derby last week. I think I had convinced myself it was all for his benefit and the days of me getting overly excited had long gone. Then suddenly when Hirst’s shot hit the net I was back at Anfield again, back at White Hart Lane again as it all came flooding back. Unreal. And the best thing is that it’s ours now. Whatever happens nothing can take that moment away from us. A memory we may well still be talking about another 20 years from now. As I said to him on the way back to the car last week.. “Good ain’t it?”

I am the only fan who is surprised by how ridiculously excited on 11:55 - Apr 7 with 2553 views | Churchman | No, it’s only you. It’s just a game and nothing to get excited about. I can always follow another team. My mate follows Newcastle - I could try them….. Back on planet earth, I’ve not been able to go to games for the last few years due to domestic circumstance and tbh Marcus Evans. The second reason - I couldn’t bear watching the club die any more. On tv, follow the scores, TWTD yes. Going? No. My disinterest has reached such levels that I’m committed to a season ticket next year for the first time since the season before McCarthy left. Not in the best of areas but I don’t care. Does which league we are in next year matter? Yes, because it’ll speed our progression back to where we belong. But not in terms of me attending whenever I can. It’s my club. Good things are happening and I’m not missing out!!! | | | | Login to get fewer ads
I am the only fan who is surprised by how ridiculously excited on 13:32 - Apr 7 with 2311 views | farkenhell | I keep singing the Kieran's at the wheel song. Over and over. To the extent that my family are convinced that I've gone mad.
I am the only fan who is surprised by how ridiculously excited on 15:06 - Apr 7 with 2165 views | britbiker | Me as well I've purchased a new season ticket for next year knowing I'm going to struggle to get to Saturday games due to work. Not told the wife yet either. I will cross that bridge in three months or when she realises there's a new DDM coming out of the account. Was a long term season ticket holder prior to changing work a couple of years back.
I am the only fan who is surprised by how ridiculously excited on 16:32 - Apr 7 with 2113 views | ClareBlue | Nearly 50 years since went to first match and this season is up there with the best. Fickle fans who hop on a band waggon to get some glory with a premiership franchise will never get it or experience it. And it's not about some tie to the town or area as I was brought up in yorkshire and never lived further south than Wakefield and in Ireland for 20 years. I like the town by the way, but it is the club that I support. My son born in Ireland is coming back from Montenegro to go to Barnsley, so the next generation is being inspired.

The Exeter game could be the date where you 'seal the deal'!

Funnily enough, Mrs C doesn’t know yet either. Best left that way…

I used to sit miserably enduring McCarthy ball and thinking I must have grown out of loving being an Ipswich fan. But no, KM and the players have reignited my love for the game once again. It’s brilliant. [Post edited 7 Apr 2023 20:02]

So the question has to be....why Ipswich?

First match was Newcastle V Leeds and we had to leave as darts were being thrown at the Leeds end and a bottle hit my dad on the shoulder. Not unusual for 70s matches but Leeds fans were in a different league for violence. Then went on holiday to Suffolk and went to PR and it was just so different. Atmosphere great, football great and everything friendly. Waited outside ground for some autographs and SirBR came over to me and gave me a town pin badge. As at 6 year old this was unbelievable. Then away game in Yorkshire met team in hotel pre match as my dad had found out where they were staying and got invited to have breakfast with the team and sat next to Mick Mills who ordered extra sausages for me. So at 6 the football was great, the ground was friendly and the club just seemed so worth investing time in. 50 years later I am still with them and have followed them everywhere. My family can not get it at all and wonder why as we have never had any connection with Suffolk. Irish wife and Son completely get it. Wife will only watch Ipswich and has done 4am starts to fly to Exeter twice this season, 7am flights to Manchester and Stansted, weekends in blackpool, train journeys and buses, forest green, Bristol etc etc. Son is based in Europe but flys in whenever possible to meet at Stansted or Manchester. There's no logic to it but it's fun and the vibe this year is great. Those sell out Friday nights were experiences not to be missed.

I am the only fan who is surprised by how ridiculously excited on 22:12 - Apr 7 with 1316 views | Melford | It reminds me of being 13 again and watching Johnny Lyall's 91/92 league winners. We had a wobble that season, drew 5 in a row then lost the next three October/November then just hit a groove. A confident settled team playing to it's strengths, it's the same vibes and momentum building.

Fantastic stuff, so the human touch. Miss Slave who grew up in Surrey has a friend who travels home and away from there to this day because as a boy he liked the badge!
