Where do I pick up my Fleetwood ticket?

;)

Just present the Stockport stub at the turnstile.

EDIT: Interestingly I was one of those too. I doubt there were as many as that actually there too. Very few games to rival how poor that was too.

I was but left early ;) So doesn't count towards Fleetwood. I did however go to the only home defeat in a European match at Portman Road. Just seen the programme available on eBay as I was doing a search for the attendance. Which incidentally was 5,831 for a European Semi Final. And coincidently our next opponents. We need revenge for that result denting our glorious home European record.

I was at that Stockport game. It was one of the worst I’ve ever witnessed at PR. Trudged out and there was not a single aspect of it that was anything other than ugly. It was one of the few occasions when we didn’t bother with the radio on the way home. Stunned silence was all we could manage.

Freezing cold, empty stadium, mugged by a side managed by an ex-nodge player that played the ugliest football ever and we were impotent.

The only matches I can recall even close to the same ballpark were at Grimsby, Bolton and Anfield.

And we made the play-offs in the Championship that year.Mad how times have changed and the energy has come back into the club. Possibly because we have been starved of any fun and excitement for so long.

We played Bournemouth at home in the Duncan years and lost 2-1 or 2-0. Empty ground, awful team (us) and out ran Amazonian Bournemouth. Huge, they were.

There we were not so many years after Muhren, Mariner and co facing Bournemouth in an empty ground and no hope of a result. And so it proved. They won easier than the score suggested and I again walked out wondering why? Just why?

Talking of crowds, in that period, our core support hovered around 10,000. A few more for a better fixture, a London side or a holiday fixture, less for a rubbish one.

How times have changed on that front - and it’s brilliant. Started with GBs teams, Wembley 2000 etc of course.

I remember doing the conga on the terrace at Plough Lane, circa 1990. . Don’t know how many we had that evening, but can’t have been many. Was ZDS cup or some such

They should put a few gold tickets in the programmes for the Exeter game..

I think I'd actually then buy one..

Can just imagine the booth.

"I'll have 2 programmes please." Quick check through it ... "and two more, please." ... keeps going until they have the tickets.

New years Day 96', pouring rain, think there were 10k. NYD and 10k! Burley had been here a year but still could get bums on seats yet. We won, i think 5-1 against...Port Vale.

I was at the game as well.

My first ever game was in the same competition against Salernitana a few weeks previously.

Beating an exocrine sounding Italian team in Europe in my first game… thought it was easy this football lark.

According to 11v11 it was 10020. I was at the game as it was the first season my dad decided to sit in the middle tier of the West Stand and I went from my usual spot in Churchmans to watch the second half - you could get round from one stand to another in those days with a ready smile. I remember nothing of the game itself.

That season we finished with delightful Millwall at home. They stuck 11 behind the ball, got their point and relegated. The Millwall mob tore the seats out. Ugly people, ugly day. Crowd was 17,430.

4th November 1997. 2-0 Stockport. Crowd: 8,828.

As others have commented, the ground looked emptier than that, but that wasn’t and still isn’t uncommon.

The Stockport game is always the go-to in discussions like this - perhaps because the performance was as bad as the attendance - but the lowest home league crowd in living memory* came a year earlier against Swindon - it was almost 2,000 lower then Stockport and only just broke through the 7,000 barrier at 7,086.

Only those 7,000 have seen Gerry Creaney score (I was not one of them). Perhaps that is its own reward.

* Apologies to those who can remember the early 50s.
