My brother in law’s team. Leicester are abject. Weak all over pitch. Embarrassing. Maddison is one of the worst. He lost the ball cheaply in Liverpool’s half and made no attempt whatsoever to track back. Walking.

So Leicester boot out Rogers and replace him with Dean Smith, who failed at Norwich. Why??

True, but they are a mess now. Sacking the manager that won those with them and Rodgers as well have only accelerated them going backwards rapidly.

Will you fear playing them next season (especially knowing their better players will go)? I am looking forward to it!

Indeed, but that isn’t much consolation if you are sitting in their stadium watching your team being used as a floor rag.

In other words, I don’t remember five years after watching one of the best sides in Europe getting kicked out of Div One thinking ‘oh it’s ok, we had a great team five years ago and won the FA Cup eight years ago. Whoopee’.

Oh indeed, not the club they were, just a general observation.

They're as good as down. Totally dire. Two games left, including Newcastle away. Leeds will be joining them I expect meaning Everton, somehow, escape again.

I don't think it really matters either way. I don't see Leicester with parachute payments wanting a striker with 0 goals above third tier level to lead their attempt to get back to the Prem.

One thing certainly in our favour is he's just had a massive wage cut.

Complete opposite. He's on 20-25k a week and yes its bad for him but if his wages suddenly half we have a realistic chance of atleast matching it. Do we think we'd be willing to match his wages if they stay up?

It will come down to who George thinks is the best person to get coached by, McKenna or Dean Smith.

#nobrainer

How do you know he'll have a massive wage cut? Just because Leicester have been/maybe relegated it doesn't mean every player has a clause in their contract to take a wage cut. That is often reserved for those regular first team players on the top wages, not necessarily those younger players on the fringes.

Although at the moment I would say he's more likely to be on 35k-40k a week. Remember when Rhodes went to Boro a few years ago he wouldn't move unless he was on 40k if they won promotion as that was standard prem wage and wages have gone up a lot since then.

But for Hirst the main question I would assume is where is he most likely to actually play. Ie stay at Leicester on a higher wage and not play or move to Town and play. Like Broady at some stage in his career he needs a home where he can play football even if it means taking a wage cut and/or a step down.

If thats true then what your saying is the first team players would suddenly be earning the same, if not less than Hirst who has played 9 minutes of Premier League football. It would also be extremely reckless financially, imagine how many players they have on the fringes like Hirst. A comparison to Rhodes, who was a top performing championship player for a number of years is irrelevant.

It's heart breaking when you consider when Leicester's decline started. When Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was killed in the 2018 helicopter crash it did seem to spell the end of the Fox resurgence.

I think it is clear to see that the issues there were not really any fault of Brendan Rodgers either.

I read somewhere that they had the 7th highest wage bill in the Premier League. If they go down, they're gonna have to sell, sell, sell.

It was reported yesterday by various news outlets that they had pre tax losses of £94m and the players will get a 50% cut in wages should they go down.

Not strictly true, they won the FA Cup since his death and finished in the top 6 twice, what has become clear is that they've missed Vichai's decisive decision-making, by all accounts it created a vacuum at the top of the club and things like not sacking Rodgers when clearly things were drifting and also some of the bad decisions on wages of new signings.

Will be interesting to see how they turn it around, they still have some good people behind the scenes and elite-level infrastructure as well. Just hope they don't target Kieran.

Didn't Rodgers leave by mutual consent? I think he saw the writing on the wall and even if they survived they would likely have struggled again next year

Why did they let Schmeichel leave just before the season started? Why are they still relying so heavily on Vardy?
