Successful player returns 22:03 - May 22 with 2324 viewsRKD

Is Luongo the player that has had the most successful return to Ipswich in comparison to his first stint?

Rule - must have played at least one senior game in each stint.

Poll: Edwards goal - shot or cross?

Miller was, think you're thinking of his 3rd stint.

Of all of those that met the rules of the game 🙄

Pablo comes close, but his first stint was significant so not a big gulf of improvement (if any).

Luongo wins.

Obviously overshadowed by his partnership with Ted Philips in the 1st Division winning team, but Ray Crawford's return to Ipswich saw him scoring 61 goals in 123 apps.
Quite some return in the autumn of his career - with Col Utd still to come.

D. Murphy

Murphy had the season of his life. He was unplayable at times and was scoring goals out of nothing. It's quite something when one player can paper over large cracks that were beginning to appear.

That wasn't the question.

The question was who had the most successful return.
Not who was better in their second stint

I thought that, but then I re-read and now I think the opposite. My second reading was better than my first.

Nope. The question was who was most successful compared to their first stint. Who did better second time round.

Including scoring on his return home debut against Norwich and helping Town to Div 2 title in 1968.

Wasn't really any better tho. Showed the same flashes as he did last time he was here but wouldn't say it was better.

Could Paul Cooper technically be included in this?

Made one appearance on loan in 73/74 season, then signed on permanently the following season.
