Did they actually say it was that? Genuinely asking because I have no idea. Incredible if so. Anything medical is fascinating. I hope you're all good now.
On the broader point, I think disciplining kids physically is just the lowest form of parenting. Completely unnecessary.
They said it was a childhood small stroke which they very roughly dated. It was a really hard blow; there was nothing else in my health or experiences that could have caused it; and I do remember that from approximately that age, I struggled to link certain things together - eg. putting my hand up to ask the date of a famous war which is actually known by its date, when the teacher had literally just said "now we're going to discuss the very important 1812 war".
I just somehow hadn't connected the date with the name, & retain that problem to this day to some extent in linking things together. It wasn't investigated at the time because I didn't have any serious symptoms, I didn't tell my parents about it as I knew they'd just say "you probably deserved it", & I just thought I was a bit stupid (which I probably was too in a different way - rebellious, naughty, non-conforming!).

Indeed. No problem with anyone protesting about anything but don’t annoy the people you want supporting you, just left my car running outside for 20 mins in spite of ‘em.
If you did, I feel truly sorry for you and the life you must lead as that is pathetic.

Herbi...the way society is today, forget about protests for a minute but society in general, do you think this softly softy approach, no physical punishment, has helped or hindered society today.
Well, it's led to a Govt trashing the country for their own gain so yes, bring back hanging, corporal punishment, vigilante law, that'll get the country straight again......

I'm only going by the way I, and many people I know, were brought up. I was a child in the 70's and left school in 82. If I ever swore at my mother I knew a whack was coming...I only did it once. If I ever was rude to my teachers i either got a slap round the head, a ruler over the knuckles or it was reported to my parents and my dad gave me a whack. Most people I know who were brought up in that era have manners and respect for others. I just don't see that so much now unfortunately.
Just out of interest, who doesn't have manners and respect for others nowadays? Are you thinking about the Conservative Party by any chance?

In most studies about this sort of thing, punishment isn’t a deterrent. It is the chances of getting caught.
That is why the party of law and order, makes sure we have a very effective, and large police force, and an efficient Justice system which moves quickly……..oh…..that’s unfortunate.
Still rousing speeches at conferences.

There won't be any public left when the planet's destroyed.
You’ve contributed to it all your life as well. How was South Africa by the way? So you don’t get extra points for being all virtuous on a message board. Go and lay in a road or something.

Going to be honest here, I think nuclear armageddon would be preferable to this level of argument - but obviously I can't say that as I once voted for a party that supported unilateral nuclear disarmament...

Assault now yes. Years ago would be laughed at and rightly so.
You’re right that people like this have always been laughed at, and worse. Arrested, beaten, even murdered. It takes guts to stand up for something you believe in that’s for society’s good but against convention. Most people feel uncomfortable when others make such a stand.

One work trip, which I had no choice over.
Yes, I've contributed to polluting the planet by virtue of my existence, in a very very tiny way. We all have. So we should all give up on trying to save the planet?
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I guess when you haven’t got a job you’ve got a lot less to lose. The way the Met seem to be dealing with these people on the roads is a joke.
"A statement from Just Stop Oil said the men involved in the protest were Dr Patrick Hart, 37, a GP from Bristol, and Sam Johnson, 40, a construction worker from Essex."
"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."

Ok, so not jobless and maybe not hippies or even smelly. I bet they’re woke though.

A few on here support a lot of nonsense.
According to this forum you’re not allowed to eat meat, fly, drive, run on a pitch, have fun, talk about the opposite sex (or whatever it is these days) and much more.

The few on here who support it will stop the down votes when JSO disrupt or cause the abandonment of a Town match. At the moment, it's not affected many of us.
I find them intensely irritating and I hate their tactics but I had to lol at the second tweet calling them selfish. They’re literally the opposite. They’re making themselves social pariahs and acquiring criminal records to try and stop some horrendous people that run oil companies from further destroying this planet to line their own pockets.
Then I clicked on his profile, learned he was a Brexit-supporting Conservative with an interest in crypto and it all made sense.

They are all stupid brainwashed hypocrites.
And the older idiots trying to deny the youth what they have had access to and used all their lives is quite pathetic really.

I wonder how many medications made using oil the GP has prescribed to patients during his career?

I hate to break it to you but that doesn’t qualify him as a hypocrite. Shooting down everyone who wants change as a hypocrite because they’ve used the system they want to change is pathetic and to me indicates that straws are very much being clutched.

So because each and every one of us has used oil based products during our lives we should bury our head in the sand, write off humanity as a failure and do absolutely nothing about climate change? What are you doing about it? I'm actually proud of these people fighting for all our futures when most of us (myself included) idly dawdle while we continue down this path. The only way out of the forecasted horrors of climate change is mass worldwide societal change - can't see it happening with attitudes like yours

I would love to be a fly on the wall when he says to his patients, “we can no longer prescribe the medicine previously used to help with your condition due to my heroic protesting”.
I do find it funny when they use oil based products in their heroic protesting. Also, how many of these idiot protesters have gone on holidays abroad etc.
