Played a blinder at the end there. Stones MOTM for me. He was immense for 60 mins. God knows what’s happened to him this season, but hopefully he’ll carry it through into the national side.

Tiresome having a commentary team that presumably assumes the whole of the UK is backing the ‘English’ team.

Agree - he’s looked unbelievable since moving to the holding role.

Lukaku just doesn't have the luck when the spotlight's on him does he?

Shame really, not least because it would have shut the commentary team up who were weirdly trying to make it sound like an Italy vs England match.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Well done for literally throwing billions season upon season to finally conquer Europe.
There once was a club, certainly never threw money at achieving success, had a squad of around 18, managed by something of an unknown manager at the time, he put that club on the map by knitting an amazing blend of youth and experience sprinkled with a couple of wizardry Dutchmen and did the very same thing.. win in Europe but against all odds.
I’ll never appreciate the Citeh model.

City really started the doping over here which has spiralled down the leagues.

Blackburn did it years ago. Man Utd had more cash than everyone else because they tapped into the foreign markets.

Spanish teams have been essentially funded by the state for decades.

Its nothing new.

Blackburn didn't seem to mark a spiral of investment down the leagues, nor did Manchester United. That's come about more recently.

Barcelona and Real Madrid seem to have such a financial advantage over the rest, but didn't realise it was via the state.

Barça and Madrid are not state sponsored but there's a point there that Blackburn started a trend, Chelsea took it to another level and United up there ss well. The whole of the Premier League years spending will have had more of say in how lower leagues have been affected rather than just one club.

That’s true for City too.

For all their cash, Pep will retire as one of the most successful managers in the history of the game.

Was that the sAme manage4 that went on to manage several other club#, building brilliant teams buy buying some great players?

Football has change£ - not for the better. But Pep is still a fantastic manager - putting teams together, improving players, changing thier position.

A bit like KM has done with us really!

The big two in Spain get into big debts, tax issues and then have things waived for the good of the nation. Its a pattern.

I don't have an issue ripping into Man City. But it is a bit odd that you are cheering on Inter when they are owned by a Chinese billionnaire politian who bought the club as a toy for his son.

"In 2016, Brussels penalised several La Liga teams over the preferential tax breaks and ordered them to repay millions of euros to the Spanish authorities."

In 2021 "The top EU court has upheld a decision from the bloc's executive arm ordering football clubs to repay illegal state aid."

These clubs included Real Madrid and Barca. So I guess we can agree they no longer are... until they get caught again.
