Ah, that vending machine at the bottom of Hadleigh Road where you could get, I think, half pint cartons of milk in the middle of the night. And strawberry flavoured milk too.
I used to buy a twopenny bag of sherbert from the corner shop and put it in my milk. One day they inspected the dregs in our milk bottles and sent all those who had added a flavour bag to the Headmistress. She went all Thatcher on us and told us to stop doing it.
Did that vending machine sell Munchies? If so, I think I know the customer base it was aimed at.

Lane 1 Paul Hurst (he'll run under hurdles) Lane 2 Paul Jewell (he'll video the race as he competes) Lane 3 Paul Lambert (buys everyone a drink after) Lane 4 Paul Cook (whole race carrying cup of coffee) Lane 5 Mick McCarthy (flashing v signs at crowd while shouting 'F-off!") Lane 6 Roy Keane (constantly kicking over MM's hurdles offering him out for a fight)
Now that is a superb fantasy!
I can see some clever animator doing that in a sort of jerky cartoon style with giant heads. Can particularly envision the McCarthy angry "F. off" head.

PS, I think the Paul Lambert character might wander over to the grandstand at the end of the race, having come in stone cold last looking gormless and bemused.

It was the only good thing Thatcher did. That warm buttery milk was feckin horrible.
