Can never be 100% with these things, I’d heard (from a usually reliable source) that deals were well along, just waiting for final sign off etc, but that can always take longer than expected during summer break.
The Simms scenario might have been affected by other clubs putting bids in for him? I was led to believe that we had talked him into joining us.
Could end up wrong on both, it’s just what I’ve been told, things can and do change if players have lots of interest. | |

Rak Sakyi has been on our radar since the middle of last season and the Simms thing I knew nothing about until it appeared on stories we all saw, so I asked a chap I know about the pair and he told me we were well down the road to signing both, can only share what I’m told.
You have to remember, no matter how confident you are of a signing, things can and do change. Look at Taylor, we made about 827 bids for him in Jan and we still didn’t get him over the line. | |

It’s another Hirst scenario isn’t it, gaffer is adamant he wants him, but I have no idea where we are on Taylor, pretty sure we’ve put bids in again, but will they be any more successful? No way we are going to meet an OTT valuation of him, so would require them to back down a bit. | |
