Who’s to say Town are the ones asking for it to be kept quiet? What if Leicester have asked for it to kept quiet? What if we’re just one of a number of clubs that are in a chain of signing strikers and none of those clubs want their local journo’s reporting it for fear of other clubs coming in for said players or driving the price up?
You just have no idea how this lot work these days, which, if you don’t know anyone on the inside, I suppose you wouldn’t do.
To say the club control the media I would say is pretty insulting to Phil and Watson. It’s about building up new relationships and trust which goes both ways between Phil/Watson and the club.

Then no I don't agree that the local journos can't print about it.. what difference does it make. You talk of legitimacy of the car for example. If you're at a club interested in Hirst and you can't confirm the legitimacy of the car then you're in the wrong business.

Similar to the other posters I'm surprised you don't see the benefit of being able to start news stories leading up to an announcement.
Anyways. You're singling out that it's specific to secret deals. It's not. My view which I shared early on in this thread is that I don't agree with any legit local journos being controlled in anyway. It sets a precedent for the future.
