O'Rourke's site makes a living out of publishing sh*te stories fed to him by agents, designed to either drum up interest/exposure or get new contracts.

This'll be Morsy's agent applying pressure on the club to discuss Morsy's future, nothing more, nothing less.

I’m suspicious too. The Saudi’s seem to have been going for higher profile players until now (unless we just don’t hear about the others?) Hope you’re right.

Multiple clubs is a good thing, get a bidding war going and let Ashton pull their pants down.

I think we'd miss him, but it's not a disaster as long as we spend the money replacing him.

Max Power went from Wigan to one of the Saudi clubs in the division below the Saudi Pro League.

He is so important to us though and is a brilliant captain! Really drives standards on and off the pitch... Would be a massive miss

Every player has a price and no single player is greater than the club. Hate to see him sold but if he did want to leave, take £10m from the Saudi's and move on

....the same formation as last season, then our starting pair this season would be Taylor and Morsy.

If Morsy leaves then it would probably be Taylor and Luongo. Is that pairing really that much weaker?

Add in Ball, Evans and Humph for support.

Is it really that much of a disaster?

I'm not sure.

I’m really surprised some are entertaining this sale. Our best player regardless of age he’s still in his prime for me. One of my all time favourite midfielders for me. He wouldn’t be replaced I’m sorry. People who think we can get 2/3 million and replace him for similar are deluded.

The fact its been revealed he had a year extension triggered upon promotion helps us in any negotiations too.

He's very valuable to us, and i'd be gutted to see him go but ITFC will be around way after Morsy has retired. So we'll survive.

In that case, with 2 years left, I'd say £5m+ or f00k off, especially this close to the season.

Yeah if it's 2 years left on his deal then we need to be asking silly money.

I know he has spent most of his career at lower levels, and don't think it would be as hard as some are making out to replace his on field ability (look at free agent Luongo's impact), but he really is the heartbeat of this club along with Chaplin and there is no need for us to have that level of disruption at this stage for chump change.

We’d without doubt sign someone to replace him as well.

I think we’re still looking to strengthen there as it is!

....so of course we could replace him.

He's an average Championship midfielder, who we were lucky to have in the 3rd Division.

He stood out in that league, he wouldn't necessarily stand out in the Championship.

Our best player last season. Really hope it doesn't happen.

Hopefully it's the bargaining tool that Phil mentions. I do remember that he said something like the ball was in the club's court re a new contract and he was just getting his head down. I do think he should have been rewarded for last season. Hopefully this is to do with that and we'll see him sign a new deal.

I think he was so consistently excellent for us that we almost took him for granted. So much of our play goes through him and comes from him breaking free. That low centre of gravity half turn and drive forward so familiar.

Agree with those saying that he is not at all easily replaceable. Would be a huge blow.

I strongly suspect in a year or so nobody will be missing him. You and many others underestimate quite how ambitious our owners are.

A Massive part of our team, our captain so would be a massive loss.

However, If these Saudi clubs are going to pay stupid money and he wants to go, then its got to be done.

While I know we had a bit of a vague glance towards FD earlier in the window, I suspect he wouldn't be interested even if we renewed it. Would be nice though.

Stu Watson mentioning he got an extension as part of a promotion clause so he has 2 years left. Is that right as far as you know?

....but we are more than capable of getting an upgrade in if we want one.

I'm surprisingly comfortable with him going, if it happens.

There's undoubtedly younger versions of him out there who will be more than capable.

A bargaining tool for what though, Phil? If he has 2 years left, he's not really in a position to be angling for 3+ at his age!

I wonder if his absence at the Maidenhead game had anything to do with these links?

I think McKenna has taken Morsy's game to another level IMO. He's definitely a better player now than when he first joined. And fitter. He's in his prime.

I definitely heard it was more of a stare than a glance, with encouragement to continue looking from Wham at least.

Would certainly be a fine replacement for Sam.
