Obviously what was acceptable in the 70's isnt now. We no longer have fencing across the North Stand segregating the neanderthal supporters of those days although there's still an element of thuggery about as seen on certain grounds when an attacking player is taking a corner. We have all been witness to referees who become " Hoomers" after verciferous home fans get on their case after they give a couple of decisions agianst their team. Fergie time and all that. What as a society we must be wary of though is that things don't go too far, where freedom of speech isn't completely nullified. But respect for one another whatever creed or colour should be the order of the day, but that doesn't mean that anything you say should be classed as racist and that anything past although wrong is history and should be accepted as such and that the only thing that can be done is to make sure that these wrongs aren't repeated.
