Away Tickets 18:23 - Sep 4 with 24515 views | mattrolow | I know this has been covered, but I’m getting really bored of this whole ego filled ticket mafia the membership scheme has created. Just created a bunch of wannabe Twitter popular weirdos offering out their tickets to get the points. Would love it if the club took the points off every single one of them.

Away Tickets on 00:21 - Sep 5 by stonojnr | if theyre a die hard town fan, theyll have enough points anyway to get a ticket, right ? thats how the systems supposed to work isn it ? |
By 'die-hard' I mean they support Ipswich, have always supported Ipswich, everyone in Penzance knows they support Ipswich, not Manchester United or Arsenal or Plymouth. At the moment the same (fairly wealthy) people get to see all the games, and the entitled get more and more entitled. [Post edited 6 Sep 2023 15:57]

The occasional time with circumstances like this, I have no problem with. But it's apparent, even a few games into the season, there are people doing it multiple times and not doing it for mates just anyone who wants to jump the queue.
Away Tickets on 09:48 - Sep 5 with 1630 views | TootingTown | I might be a rarity but it doesn't really bother me- and I currently have 8 points. I feel if you've amassed 20+ points that pretty much means you've attended (or brought a ticket) to nearly every away game last season. I think if you've done that many games, then you've earnt the right to have first dibs this season. There will always be a few that abuse the system, but because a few people are selling on social media, people seem to think it's a bigger problem than it actually is.

Away Tickets on 00:12 - Sep 5 by Sharkey | I don't think any system is 'great' . This may be the best system, I don't know. But I think a system where some tickets went to regional supporters clubs branches (e.g. south west branch) would be better. It's kind of sad if a die-hard Town fan in Cornwall doesn't get a ticket to the Plymouth game. I realise these club branches no longer exist for the most part, but maybe they would if such a system existed.) |
The club do provide tickets for regional supporters clubs for their local games but all tickets still need to have an associated membership number.

It may be that Norwich is given special treatment - such s a letter system so those with the most points are guaranteed tickets. I suspect the requirement will be 40 or even 45 at that point.

Away Tickets on 21:52 - Sep 4 by LA_Tractor_Boy | Only way to stop this is for all tickets to be collected in person at the away ground or a nearby venue using photo id. No collection = no points. It's how the FA ensure Engand fans only collect 'caps' for attending away matches, not buying tickets. Can't see ITFC wanting the admin costs though. |
How about those who are unable to collect in person due to work/geogrqaphical issues?

If work or geographical issues are stopping you getting to the ground you're supposed to be watching the game at, I think you've got a bigger issue in attending that game to be honest!
Away Tickets on 10:53 - Sep 5 with 1441 views | lizzibee | I don't think it will become a massive issue. Yes it happened at Reading because the tickets were cheap but many people can't afford to buy tickets then not go. Also, those people tend to be first in line and by history are the ones who invested significantly last year and so far this year. Those at the top of the points order normally attend the games

Away Tickets on 22:04 - Sep 4 by Horsham | To be honest I’d quite like to go to Southampton but I accept there’s more loyal deserving fans than me but I’m totally f’cked if I’m going to suck up to some twunt on twitter to get a ticket so I’ll take my chances and probably not go. |
I’m not going. You can use my customer number to get a ticket if you like? Then I can call the ticket office to potentially get the point allocated from me to you? If that’s allowed…

Exactly. Reading probably just an outlier given price but there will be very few spending £40 Ona. Sheff Weds ticket and not going. Both Sheff Weds and Southampton will presumably go to general sale?
Away Tickets on 11:03 - Sep 5 with 1378 views | CityBlue | it could be as tight as the Liverpool home ticket sales where you need to have seen at least 13 games last season in order to buy a ticket for this season

…jizztrumpet. He’s actively encouraging fans with memberships that don’t go to matches to buy tickets for fans without memberships. He’s acting as if he’s some sort of Robin Hood, when all he is doing is helping create a “closed shop” for away matches. All of it just so that he can get a few likes on Twitter and promote both himself and his crappy YouTube channel. I can’t wait for the club to clamp down on him, but even when they do he’ll try and turn himself into some sort of martyr that is being unfairly treated. He’s treading a very thin line, in more ways than one. [Post edited 5 Sep 2023 11:11]

Collection of tickets from the ground with ID. If the name on ID matches on ticket you get the point, if it doesn’t, you don’t get the point. Simple.

I don't think buying and not going is going to be that much of an issue as, as you imply, that will get stupidly expensive to do. The other issue which is more likely is people buying then selling later on (rather than returning the ticket to the club) so they get the point for free basically, which I can't imagine the club being too pleased about happening as it fairly obviously goes against the whole point of having a priority system. Having some self-absorbed narcissist actively facilitating that practice on social media is poor really and if nothing else it would be good if the club could put a stop. There's no real reason for people at the top of the pile to be doing it anyway as, like you say, they're most likely ones who go to enough matches as it is to put themselves in a position to be towards first in line for high priority games, i.e. Norwich away. Arguably it will ultimately be fruitless for people lower down the chain to do it as well as the club can just change the priority bands, but then again that might lead to a more frenzied buying and selling market. Tough for the club really as anything they could introduce to stamp this out like Prem clubs do would be a pain a) for them to set-up and put into practice and b) for people attending the matches who might have to deal with having tickets checked, picking them up from an specific point at the ground etc. Can see them doing something eventually though as they'll be aware of what's going on and won't be happy about it.

…because it’s obvious what is going on, if they aren’t aware then they are completely out of touch. My concern, as always with Ashton, is that if anything it’s creating even more demand for tickets and ultimately more revenue and exposure for the club. Will he actually care? Or will he just look at the economics?

I can't imagine Ashton is particularly enamoured by having some narcissist actively and publicly trying to encourage people to game the priority system and acting as a ticket exchange service. [Post edited 5 Sep 2023 11:23]
