Away Tickets 18:23 - Sep 4 with 24482 views | mattrolow | I know this has been covered, but I’m getting really bored of this whole ego filled ticket mafia the membership scheme has created. Just created a bunch of wannabe Twitter popular weirdos offering out their tickets to get the points. Would love it if the club took the points off every single one of them.

Away Tickets on 11:11 - Sep 5 by textbackup | Collection of tickets from the ground with ID. If the name on ID matches on ticket you get the point, if it doesn’t, you don’t get the point. Simple. |
I presume you live locally then and can easily get to the ground. What about those who work 9-5 or live a way away. I only live in Mid Suffolk but could not get to ground to collect tickets due to work. Then the club would need to employ more staff which would increase costs to cover.

My concern, as always with Ashton, is that if anything it’s creating even more demand for tickets and ultimately more revenue and exposure for the club. Will he actually care? Or will he just look at the economics? |
Obviously near impossible to please everyone but thought from the off that the membership scheme does more the club's finances than it does the fans. If you had some form of membership last season and went to several aways then you have to pay double this time just to 'activate' your points for this season, everyone else then has to pay £40 just for a chance at getting a ticket to popular games, which is a lot of them, while ST holders get bumped down the priority list and don't even get the same benefits as last season such as buying extra tickets for home games. The price of success I suppose and from Ashton's point of view he's got himself a nice little position where the majority of fans hang off his every word regardless of how true things stand up once you apply some scrutiny to them.

They are aware and are looking into ways of addressing it. I know they were less than happy with the way tickets were being redistributed last season as well.

No scheme is perfect. The new scheme makes it easier for fans who do not live close to Ipswich to get away tickets, as they are no longer behind season ticket holders in the queue. While I accept that the membership price has gone up for last season gold card holders (It went down for ultimate fans), there are still a significant list of benefits and discounts. And our membership scheme is cheap compared to many other clubs. FWIW, I think that the away ticket fuss will quickly die down when fans realise that a lot of matches will get to general sale. There has always been a degree of ticket sharing and sourcing tickets for friend and family, which is fine by me. The one thing I would like the club to do is clamp down on the more blatant hawking of tickets on Twitter.

He means at the away ground. England do the same to stop the point collecting.

Away Tickets on 12:57 - Sep 5 with 1874 views | SheffordBlue | It would be helpful if the Club's Terms and Conditions page was updated with the rules for using your membership and the purchase of away tickets, At the minute while there's clear guidance on the use, transfer, onward sale, etc of home and season tickets there's nothing on away tickets or the rules for use of Membership. Some of the gaming of the system is due to an absence of clear guidance and people then interpreting what they think is right and wrong.

He’s acting as if he’s some sort of Robin Hood, when all he is doing is helping create a “closed shop” for away matches. All of it just so that he can get a few likes on Twitter and promote both himself and his crappy YouTube channel. I can’t wait for the club to clamp down on him, but even when they do he’ll try and turn himself into some sort of martyr that is being unfairly treated. He’s treading a very thin line, in more ways than one. [Post edited 5 Sep 2023 11:11]

If they offered a buy back scheme, which the mob up the road have done for years, it would largely sort the problem of tickets being redistributed on twitter. I don’t see an easy solution to the points hoarding. I don’t think this will be an issue long term, but it was frustrating as a ST holder not to be able to get a ticket for Reading only to see loads of empty seats

You can return tickets to the club for a refund, has been the case for some time.

Perhaps there needs to be a reminder that selling tickets on is illegal even at face value and maybe checks on who is using tickets, although clearly it's impractical to do that comprehensively.

In the first instance I think this is definitely needed, Phil. And sooner rather than later. There seems to be a view that there is nothing wrong in what they are doing and actually it's some kind of charitable scheme for which they should be commended. Or that without their efforts we wouldn't be selling out away games. It's weird that the most loyal supporters that the club relies on so heavily and would be nowhere without are striving to cause issues for those working in the club they care so much about.

I agree. £40 is a bargain in my opinion. But then I am biased as I have 36 points so with a fair wind should be guaranteed a ticket for Norwich

Isn’t that because the tickets arrived on the away coaches, if they were at the away ground already, and could be collected from 12pm there would be no problem

It's £10 too expensive IMO, £20 was cheap for a Gold Card but doubling the price was a bit much.

It doubled from a relatively low base. I see that Norwich have separate membership schemes for home and away games, priced £25 each. You can only buy a ticket if you are a member of the relevant scheme, so they are effectively charging £10 per season more than us. Home ticket sales to members only is common in the top two divisions.
Away Tickets on 15:15 - Sep 5 with 1540 views | Vaughan8 | I think random spot checks at the ground before the turnstiles would save time but also put some people off. However, a tanked up fan thinking he's going to get in and then gets refused, is not going to be pretty. I'm guessing the cost of doing all.this comes into play too.

I think they were already there as delicates but the club only had one person assisting - Barnsley was carnage!
