Presume all the Scots, Welsh and Irish will now be supporting their cousins in the rugby now?

I’ve just conducted a thorough poll of the Mrs, and she says says she’s neutral. I think that’s more because she’s absolutely bloody useless at making decisions, so probably not the best gauge. She’s solidly for Fiji tonight though. I suspect how long England stay in the competition will have a bearing on who she supports. She’s very much an anyone but England sort.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

For me it's France or New Zealand. And I gave up supporting England in 1974 when I couldn't persuade anyone in my class at Northgate to support Scotland at the World Cup. I put it down to jealousy because England hadn't qualified.

I still don't get why England don't do a bit of morris dancing before like the Haka or Cibi ... that would scare the shhhhet out of 'em

This current game does remind me a bit of why I don’t watch so much anymore. Holding someone’s shirt is a penalty, punching someone in the face twice isn’t

The endless, game changing scrum penalty kicks, which are a lottery, make rugby near unwatchable for me.

A sport played by gentlemen... Or some delusion like that.

If France go out, England are the only northern hemisphere team left. Wouldn't have expect that.

I'm hoping for France though, for some friendly rivalry with colleagues.

I think this is the point of the tournament that they look forward to most, being able to whinge about England in solidarity. In fairness, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Welsh lose last night so maybe we're all as bad as esch other.

One of the few games I’ve seen was SA V Scotland. SA have some amazing players. I also saw France v AB as well though!

A bit harsh. Wales, Ireland and Scotland have all at least won something.

Great little post match interview from Ellis Genge on 5 Live just now calling out all the negativity in the media and 5 Live especially for writing them off before the tournament and before this match. Awkward moments for the interviewer and in the studio, lol.

England have beaten no-one of note, thanks to the stupidity of seeding the draw 3 years in advance ?!? Let's interview Genge after England have been thrashed by France or South Africa.

I've got no beef with Scotland and Ireland but I think those years of Six Nations domination under Gatland have forever soured me on their success sadly!

Yes, I think that was what he was talking about. I suppose if everyone’s written them off then that will only spur them on. That’s something they seem to be using anyway. He sounded quite salty ! (I had no idea who he was, I had to Google him, which shows the level of my interest).

....who are now semi finalists.

Does that count as a team of note?

Seeding 3 years before a World Cup is ludicrous (and will change) but England have only benefitted due to being so highly seeded at the time, and as for this tournament we can only beat who we’re drawn against.

Played 5, won 5 for England. This England side isn’t as revered as ones in the past 20 years but let’s be honest, to be in the last 4 we couldn’t have done much more at this stage. Beat Argentina in difficult circumstances with 14 players for pretty much the whole game, beat Japan who aren’t what they were but still sticky opposition, hammered Chile as expected, and just beat Fiji who are no mugs and effectively dumped Australia out. It’s only really the Samoa game I would say was a poor performance, and we were still the better side and got the win.

Everything points to probably going out in the semi against France or South Africa, but I don’t really get the negativity from the media and fans. England still have a lot of quality, most of that side / bench today have 50+ caps a piece and vast experience. The way some people talk you would think England are hopeless which is far from the truth.

I think they’re the only home nation (plus Ireland) to beat another side ahead of them in the rankings

England will lose in the final, it might not be pretty but I believe they will get there.
