Fulham were very very average 00:28 - Nov 2 with 3570 viewsMaySixth

we made them look good
very poor performance, lot of the back ups did themselves no favours tonight

Poll: If ITFC were to be relegated, would McKenna be poached to manage in the Prem?

Fulham were definitely not average.. but with a few first teamers.. on 00:36 - Nov 2 with 3524 viewsunstableblue

.. a bit more composure/shape and a better press I think we could have beaten them

Poll: How do you rate the new home kit out of 5?

This is a poor post. A lot of the haven't played since the Wolves game.
Fulham are a Premier League club with a Premier League squad.
Ipswich are a Championship club a predominantly League One squad.
It gave them all minutes ready to step into the Championship if needed.
Hopefully McKenna will use the F.A.Cup the same way. (especially the early rounds)
Nobody should be critical of this squad or staff after the amazing start we have had,
Very disappointing to see a post like this.

Neither side wanted to play. It’s demeaning being put forward in a competition you’re not trying to win - though a tad difficult playing coherent football in cobbled together teams

I personally felt it was one game too many for us, it's the weakest line up we have picked all season and was as much about protecting the starting eleven against Birmingham as much as anything else

It got minutes under legs for a few who have needed it, that's probably the main thing there

Hopefully it pays dividends on Saturday

They took control of a game for 90mins without having to get out of 2nd gear. They just kept moving the ball without really being pressed high or having to move it at a higher tempo.

Poll: If selling Jackson meant getting in a wide man, would you be happy with Garbutt?

Cairney and Wilson are top class and kept the midfield moving really nicely whilst Taylor and Ball basically sat on toes of Axe and Burg first half, thus creating a massive gap between the midfield and the attack.

Tom Cairney is always a class above whenever I've seen him. Always looks like he makes 1,000 passes against us every time too! Never seen him sprint either, just oozes class.

I imagine expectations are starting to get inflated due to the run, which is understandable. But of course there’s a massive gap between the resources of both sides, so we shouldn’t be surprised at losing. There was always a chance, as we showed against Wolves, but we were very much the underdog. We’d have been the underdog with our first 11.

I blame Carragher. As soon as he predicted we’d win that jinxed it.

Looked that way to me too, looked like they were cruising and could easily have stepped up a gear if needed.

Disagree.

Thought their quality, especially in possession of the ball was clear to see - and it meant they were much more composed at beating the press and getting out the other side - which isn't something you really see at our level as much.

Also they caused a lot of problems with their two wide players coming in and playing as two 10's and making a box in the middle.

KMc is right, there are things we will learn from as a whole, and will stand us in a much better place.

Yes we did play a below strength Town team in some areas. But take nothing away from an excellent Fulham team who controlled 85% of the game. It did change slightly second half when the subs came on and what a player that Baggott is, calm and was marshalling the defence when he came on. Can't see him being out of the first team squad for long. We just have to put it down to one of those games. I got a bit frustrated at our inability to make passes in the first half. Aluko man of the match ? thought that a strange one, but in truth until Baggott came on it was difficult to pick a Town man of the match. We move on, learn from this and continue with our progress.

For me, we was totally outclassed, Clarke was very poor at LB and the midfield was totally dominated by Fulham, with there pressing and not allowing any time on the ball. We was strolling around trying to play out from the back and generally getting nowhere, we needed more urgency and getting the ball upfront quicker, but had no one who could do that. I also think the ref was very poor.

We basically played far to many of the squad players and should have had a few of the 1st team starting.

Then we play Rotherham (a) and Swansea (h) as well as Birmingham like you say all in 7 days. If we went strong last night you’re surely weakening side due to fatigue going into these games. McKenna did the right thing.

Don't see the benefit in lying about what happened, they dominated us around without ever putting in too much effort.

Haha! We thought they must have picked Player of the Match out of a hat. FWIW I thought Harness looked decent last night. He was our only dangerous player in the "front" six.

Which, as a Premier League squad, they should. People, please remember that this is our first season back in the Championship. I would say that it would take 2 or 3 windows to get us anywhere near ready for a mid table Premier League finish. (which is what Fulham are) We are doing amazingly so far this season, but please, remember where we have come from and where we are now.
