SAF didn't go on to become an England Manager who won the World Cup though did he, nor one who managed England & got them to a semi-final of the WC - so yes, both SAR & SBR 's managerial careers trumped Fergie's.
Edit - forgot to say, nor did SAF take an 'unfashionable' club languishing in the third tier to flourish in the top tier. Manu were already a 'big club' before his arrival. SAR & SBR both *made* us into a big club.

When SAF was appointed, United were a big club in an era of lots of big clubs. Everton, Liverpool, Spurs, Forest, Villa, Arsenal, etc. United were a big club who hadn’t won the title for nearly twenty years when Fergie was appointed.
SIr Bobby was a God. That man gave me the best footballing years of my life. So lucky to have been born at the right time for supporting Ipswich. He is everything to me. No BoBby Robson would probably mean we would be a yo-yo club between National League and League Two But SAF’s achievements with MU put Sir Bobby’s in the shade to anyone who isn’t wearing blue tinted specs.

What I was getting at, obviously unsuccessfully for most on here, was that SAR & SBR had a *breadth* of success that SAF didn't, from building an English club in the third tier (sorry, but the far weaker Scottish leagues just don't compare) to the top tier & European success, and then ALSO to winning the World Cup, & getting us to the semis of the WC as England Managers.
Just my opinion, and I'm not going to be swayed from it - and I do have the utmost respect for SAF 's huge achievements.

I wonder if SAF was ever offered the England job?
Scottish division one was one of the best 3 or 4 leagues in Europe in the 80s. This is a very weak argument.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Sir Bobby had multiple big money offers whilst at Town but didn't leave ... timing is everything.
Going from 35k a year to 50k at Spurs plus a house and a car in 1977 is not the modern day equivalent you might think it is. I think this is a moot point as there is no way they come in for him but some of the arguments for him staying here are the most blue tinted glasses imaginable, it’s bleeding Manchester United.

"Bleeding " is exactly what they're doing right now. Poisoned chalice with the owneship situation which risk KM will surely see even if you can't.
If some of us are wearing blue-tinted glasses, you have red-tinted ones on.

You are adding two Ipswich manager's together as if they are one person! They were very different.
Alf built us and, with a miracle season in very different times, won the league. Amazing achievement. And then he won the World Cup - unique and brilliant. On the other side of the coin, he did not build a club empire, nor did he stay at the top as a manager for decades. But a true great.
Robson built many different ITFC teams and kept us as a top team for 8 or 9 years. He was pretty good as England manager, though often ridiculed at the time. He went on to have strong success in the 90s across Europe at many clubs. And he was loved: he was clearly a really top guy too. Longevity, love and success. What a man!
SAF... 8 years transforming Aberdeen into the best club in Scotland when competing against 2 superpowers in Celtic and Rangers. Then making Man U amongst the most successful global football brands - possibly most hated too! With trophy after trophy after trophy. And a snarling monster of a character.

No chance - the egos in that dressing dressing room requires a much bigger name than KM
That whole club is rotten, they are a bang average side with a better than average following. Brighton has a better side these days then Manure. Many of their players are massively over paid and over rated for what they are, and I include the likes of Maguire, Rashford and Sancho in that, despite being England players, they aren't that good.

It doesn't, and anyone saying he'll stay here over Utd have clearly had too many Snowballs.
Sometimes it's good to take the Blue tinted specs off and be realistic.
You don't know what he's thinking. I've laid out my reasoning about how it's not a given and how it's not necessarily the best career move right now. I won't accuse you of drinking (or wearing any kind of tinted specs) just because I don't agree with you, I'll just accept that you can't help it because you're a bit thick.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I'm a bit thick because I don't believe for one minute he would turn down an offer from Utd to stay with us?
And I'm called thick, laughable.
You crack on walking down that yellow brick road Dollers.

Partly. You're thick due to a combination of that, failing to see any alternative, failing to see any logic in what I posted, not understanding that you can't read another person's mind, and resorting to childish 'you must be pished' comments.
The world isn't black and white.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

This thread is classic TWTD, people getting their knickers in a twist over absolutely nothing but conjecture and speculation.
Exactly, it's like there's a few posters on here waving their arms in the air trying to attract the attention of the 'big' clubs and encouraging them to come and poach Sir KMac.
I really don't see the point in threads like this, especially when we are doing so well for the first time in almost 20 years, needs deleting if you ask me.

I'm absolutely sick of most of them which just tediously pop up like mushrooms round a birch tree in autumn every time there's a managerial departure in the Prem, but thought this one a tad more interesting with the obvious ManU connections. And apols to him, but I've rather enjoyed imagining & plotting KM's career path for him

Yup, I agree with this - there's no way in a million years United would go for McKenna until he's shown he can do it consistently in the Premier League with big name players.
He was first team coach at United under 3 different managers. He knows United, no worries on that score.
