If you want to ban airport bars because some people can't handle their drink and behave like dickheads, would you apply that logic to bars at Portman Rd? |
I don't want to close airport bars. My suggestion is simply that they shouldn't be allowed to sell alcohol before a reasonable time, say 11:00am. |  |

Slightly off topic, but an increasing number of flights are having problems with unruly passengers. Often, the miscreants have been drinking alcohol at an airport from early in the morning. Why shoul;d airport bars be able to serve alcohol at such a ridiculous time, apart form the obvious "profit" motive? |

We certainly have a massive problem with alcohol. It apparently costs us in the UK £27BN per year through related crime, lost productivity and health impacts. It must be the second largest self inflicted damage to society. |  |

Agreed. I find it crazy how much this country revolves around alcohol.
Like the majority of our social gatherings do. After work drinks, weddings, you could even make a case for Saturday afternoons at football.

Notably, you have done a bait and switch here. Your example was people going on holiday and wanting to start at 7am. Not people who want a drink just to get on a flight, which is rather different and much less likely to be trouble for a cabin crew. [Post edited 12 Mar 2024 8:51]
