or do fans of other clubs have this seemingly unending desire to bring back their old players, so far this weekend we've had Flynn Downes and Arron Cresswell.
One that wanted to leave and a 34 year old to act as cover for a player who runs more yards than most players in that position.

We need legs in central midfield and Downes or Ben Sheaf are the 2 stand out players from the Championship that we’ve seen.

I can’t see the issue with Downes, he’s been excellent for Southampton this season and neither Morsy nor Luongo is getting younger. A central midfielder capable of replacing either is a high priority. |  |

Would you have wanted to stay here watching the squad be gradually downgraded and on the inevitable slide into league one? Everything we have heard about the culture here under Evans and the state of the training ground etc and you still can't get over him wanting to leave?
As for the rest of of your list yesterday, he quite fairly pointed out that the fans didn't know the full story. You even managed to take issue with him saying he wanted to stay at Southampton.

It’s probably all clubs and I assume for a lot of people, in most cases, is just down to a lack of player knowledge outside of Ipswich.

I know Colchester fans often comment when ex-players are released, and there tends to be much more interest when the players are 'home-grown´. The general feeling this week seemed to be that it would always be nice to see KVY back, Bonne not so much, ... but that the Cowleys are certain to have strong ideas of their own and neither signing is remotely likely. (Having said that, Bonne did play for them at Lincoln, on loan.)
Obviously, at that level there tend to be a few players who have gone on to greater things and there is always the fond hope that one day the likes of Szmodics and Tchamadeu will come home. And until he eventually finished (at Peterborough Sports I think) there was always the hope/rumour that Lua Lua would come back to entertain the good people of north Essex.
The fact that Tchamadeu was in with the away fans at a game a couple of months ago shows his affection for the club, but hopefully he'll have at least ten years at a much higher level. The chairman was talking last week about how pleased he is that so many of the academy players who've been sold 'upwards' stay in touch. [Post edited 18 May 2024 15:48]
