Exactly. If McKenna’s that unhappy about how he’s being represented then he could sack his agent. Keeping him in place means he’s perfectly happy with the job he’s doing.

I might be wrong but I would imagine it is harder to sack an agent than you may think. Contract signed by both parties that I would imagine an agent would have to be in breach of.

Best financial deal, yes. By fecking over everyone else in the way, including, possibly, his client. There's no guarantee that the best financial deal is in the best interests of KM. In fact, I would pretty much guarantee that KM's interests are not represented by his agent other than financial ones. And that doesn't always lead to a good outcome (see Potter at Chelsea). I'm not naive (well I am, but that's another story), I know the lure of money is important, but possibly more important is the lure of the opportunity for KM to test himself at a higher level. I just don't think KM's personal goals will be foremost in the mind of his leech, er I mean agent.

I imagine there would be a clause about going against the wishes of the client, or displaying the client in a negative light.

It's still up to KM to accept a deal or not. There may be 2 or 3 on that able including ours. I don't see what anyone has done wrong, but let's get it sorted ASAP.

No, i don't imagine anything has done anything wrong in the literal, legal sense. I just don't like agents driving the show, using the media to pressure clubs, playing clubs off against one another, etc.

I expect you're right contractually, but relationships are integral to any agency's success. If McKenna were angered by their behaviour and made this known to them, it feels likely to me that they'd rein in it. I suspect he's happy for them to represent him as they see fit, with their professional experience, and has probably briefed them on his desired outcomes.

But where is the evidence of this? Teams are without managers, KM is the next big thing so it doesn't take any genius to put him in the frame for jobs, especially in the clickbait age where people have to get stories out.

The “don’t want to discuss a new deal and feel it’s time to move on” adds an additional dimension to it. Though Cheltenham Blue pointed out on the other thread double checking is not as robust as it once was, even with the BBC.

It's what agents do, but that's true enough. Obviously I've got no evidence, but I can't imagine his agent not making the most of this to ramp up those demands (be that a new contract here or at a new club). Maybe I'm being irrational, but the use of using the media to spread rumours in order to secure new contracts is a well-known agent tactic across the sport.

I was basing it on the article being published by the BBC. That may have been an error.
