Watching the Champions' League final 08:39 - Jun 1 with 7758 viewsMark

It used to be free on ITV, then it was free on BT Sport's YouTube channel, now I read we are expected to sign up to an account with Discovery+ to watch it without charge. I won't bother. How poor of UEFA to allow this huge match to be so hard to get for people not paying TNT £30.99. These days I just ignore European club football.

Calm down.

I don't think you have to pay to watch it. Just need to create an account on discovery+I thought I read?

Edit: https://www.discoveryplus.com/gb/video/sport/tnt-sports-1/borussia-dortmund-real

Also I'm not sure why people think this should be free for everyone. Unfortunately uefa is only.interested in the money, like a lot of top end football.

They don't have to show it free, just BTSports and now these new people are.

You seem to moaning for the sake of moaning. You yourself have admitted it’s free if you set up an account for Discovery+. I pay about half the price you quote for TNT Sports - which is what BT has morphed into, which of course isn’t just to watch one game a year.

I think there may have been an agreement when BT/TNT took over the contract from ITV/Sky that the final would be shown for free. I know it is free on Discovery if we give our personal details on their website, and for those know how to do that (which many elderly people won't). I just believe major finals should be free for everyone to switch on their TVs and watch. If Ipswich get there one day I would like everyone to see it.

TNT is £30.99 a month according to their website. It may be cheaper alongside other subscriptions on other platforms. I expect Ipswich will be on there a few times next season.

TNT is an add on for EE phones for an extra £2 so went for it just for some mid week magic.

Just to be annoying, the game is on free to air over here in Ireland. It's on RTE 2 in 27 mins.

I know what you mean, and it’s more a practical issue for many, as you have to download and access the app on your phone or TV, unless you have a newish TV which already has it.

Some of us are also a bit wary of Discovery, having signed up for ‘free’ for the last Olympics, only to discover 6 months down the line that we’d been charged for the last three because we’d forgotten to cancel …

I’m looking forward to it and will dip in and out while sorting out food for the clan. Registering for a Discovery+ account isn’t too much trouble, although we’ve got that already.

Looking forward to the Euros too. Far more than usual for some reason.

I'm currently watching it on Discovery+ for free, took me less than 2 minutes to sign up and don't even need an activation email.

What on earth was that music skit about? Laughably awful!

Tbf it doesn't work on smart TV, only works on phone.

Feels like a bit of a scam.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Errr...no, I'm watching it right now on my smart TV.

Find the discovery+ app on the TV and you will be shown a screen where you need to go to e.g. discovery.com/Samsung on your phone, with some numbers underneath it. Then you scroll to the bottom, click on the free register option and put your first name and email address in. Then type the numbers on the screen, into your phone. It is an extremely simple process.

It took me longer to type that out than it did to register.

You might need to install it. I didn't have it initially so had to install it in from apps menu.

Nah on the Sky app it tells you to register for TNT for £31.

I've connected the laptop via HDMI and is fine.

I don't have a subscription to Sky or TNT, and the Champions' League Final is the only club game not involving Ipswich that I watch in a season as I am not interested enough in other teams to pay.

I think it should be added as a Category A protected event for free to air TV channel coverage, like the FA Cup Final.

It's a bit of a joke that clubs crave 4th place in the Premier League over winning the FA Cup to qualify for a competition nobody watches.

It's really not a rubbish match at all. Dortmund really have Madrid's number but they'll do well to keep it up. Been quite a few chances, a bit more quality from Adeyemi and Dortmund would be cruising.

Mine did that just before and during HT - quit the stream, waited a couple of mins and put it back on which fixed it but it's now gone back to buffering and a drop in video quality.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.
