119 appearances, 26 goals, 21 assists. For under £100k.

Agreed. Also the fact we signed him from Fleetwood, at what 27 years old, and he hadn't really been close to playing consistent championship football in his career. To then be a crucial player in a promotion winning championship team and off to the Prem is an incredible story and testament to his hard work and of course KMs coaching [Post edited 3 Jun 2024 9:05]

What a ridiculously good signing on 09:12 - Jun 3 with 3336 views | Dyland | Nowhere near his ceiling either, imho.

The long-term goal is to reach the Premier League and I’m thrilled to be part of that challenge.” Worked out alright for him didn't it?

How can he be leaner AND bulkier at the same time?! I'm confused!

Looks to have lost weight and put on lean muscle. Maybe it’s just the hair

3 years ago today.... on 10:39 - Jun 3 with 2858 views | Leithblue | wasn't it a few weeks after we'd played Fleetwood final game of the season? He gave our Arsenal loanee CB McGuiness a 5 yard head start, plus almost stumbled over, then roasted him for pace and thrashed the ball past Holy
3 years ago today.... on 10:41 - Jun 3 with 2835 views | Asa | Surely we've never had a better pound for pound signing? We've had some great free transfers. But in terms of a player signing for a fee and going on to being worth multiples of that fee, Burns must easily be the highest.

Hmmm, some tough competition for that claim . . . Arnold Muhren, Paul Mariner, Matt Holland, Paul Cooper (was only £23K).

I’d forgotten how little we paid for him. Whilst Mick played a blinder in increasing Ming’s’ value by about £10M in a year, I’d argue Wes is the better value signing.

3 years ago today.... on 13:36 - Jun 3 with 2015 views | AlanG296 | We miss him when he's out injured, nobody else can play that position like he can, what he contributes to the team. Sadly there are numbskulls about who don't appreciate that because of an innate bias against players from what they judge to be non league clubs. "Got him from Accrington, Fleetwood, Salford or whatever, can't be any good". I sit near a couple of them.

He is a classic throwback success story, like the old days of when Ian Rush came from Chester, Keegan at Scunthorpe. Latterly, Vardy.
