This Michael Mosley thing doesn't sound promising does it? on 07:35 - Jun 11 by The_Flashing_Smile
His wife says he "collapsed where he couldn't be easily seen" which suggests overcome by heat or had a heart attack rather than "fell".
Some reports this morning are saying that he died of heat exhaustion. Looks like he might have sat down and then died and then fell into the position he was found in and thus sustained the head wound after death.
Horrible.

I think it’s pretty horrible for posters to be speculating on the mechanism of someone’s death just a couple of days after it happened to be honest.

I haven't entered into the debate re carrying smartphones or doing adventurous walks, but would just say that although I do take the utmost care when walking my dog on my own in the (not much used) woods with their hundreds of knobbly roots & mini stumps sticking out even on the main, sloping, path near home, as I have health issues & am older than Michael Mosley - there are occasions when -
1. You realise after half a mile along the road (but not yet reached the woods),that you've forgotten your phone, but feel you've gone too far to turn back, because 99.9% of the time you won't need it.
2. You deliberately take the slightly riskier route because you've always been an adventurous person & actually need the challenge and/or a bit of adventure in your life in order to stay as mentally and emotionally healthy as possible.
We've all got to go sometime,& adapting a phrase, I'd prefer "dying on my feet in the woods than living on my knees on my garden's smooth lawn". Maybe Dr. Mosley had a similar philosophy.
Yes, and for some of us there is a psychological cost to feeling forced to maintain electromagnetic connection with the rest of the hive at all times. Differs depending on what family responsibilities you have obviously, but it's not fundamentally obligatory for everyone to be as safe as possible in everything they do. That way lies slavery.

Understand what you mean, feels a bit uncomfortable to me too, even though it's human nature to speculate where something has an element of a mystery, I guess.

Who is speculating?
I've just posted what is being reported to add to what Dolly posted:

Slavery?! Blimey. I thought people were just suggesting if going for a long walk, in an unknown area with uneven terrain and extreme heat, having a phone on you might be a good idea.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I haven't seen anything about a head wound, I thought they said no injuries.

And you can turn on "Do Not Disturb" so that no calls will come through. But you have the ability to be tracked and make an emergency call yourself.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's not a good idea, but sometimes people nag that you 'must' take all possible precautions to avoid all risks and that can be a form of slavery to someone who enjoys the freedom to live a more natural sort of life without being terrified of death or injury.
OK, in retrospect 'slavery' is probably too strong a word!

Avoid twitter then.
Even before he was found there were the usual conspiracy nut jobs on there speculating that he may have collapsed somewhere due to having been vaccinated.

I think sometimes when yer wondering around on yer own in very remote places its not until something goes wrong or you get a hint of how something could go wrong that you realise what possible danger you could be in.
I've wandered around bogs and forests lost a few times (usually due to phone or Internet issues) and it's always easy to see how it could have been avoided after the event

The bogs in Hollywoods used to be notorious. You could get stuck in there for days. TWTD.
Makes me wonder how we all survived before the days of the internet and mobile phones.

Whilst mainly inspired by horror movies, there was also some suggestion that the song I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement was about the toilets at CBGBs given this from Debbie Harry.
"Asked about the bathroom at CBGB, Debbie Harry remarked: "I think that song from the Ramones is partially about that: 'I don't wanna go down to the basement ... ' As kids, we never wanted to go down to the basement cos it was so dark and scary. And that toilet was certainly very scary."
This from CBGBs in 1974.

Hollywoods, TWTD!!!
Do you remember Lee the bouncer who had a scar on his face. Used to scare the crap out of me until I randomly met him at a rave in Mildenhall. Surprisingly a nice guy (must have been the drugs he was on :-D)

Are you suggesting that otherwise psychotic Lee was a lot less dangerous and almost pleasant when his tiny monkey like brain was temporarily addled by the wonders of MDMA?
Perhaps we could some how sneak it into the water supply of Putin or Netanyahu etc?

Well, i am not 100% sure, however, it was such a 180 with respect to his normal personality I would highly suspect that MDMA was at play. Especially back in those days of the early 90s when the pills were incredibly strong. Allegedly.
