Christ. Eat less, move more and save yourself £200 Feel I should add to this as things can be taken the wrong way on here. Each to their own and if people have the money then go for it. The point I am making is I can’t believe a company can charge as much as £200 per month for something that can essentially be achieved for free. [Post edited 10 Jun 2024 17:39]

There is a whole litany of reasons why "Eat less, move more" isn't the full picture. Yes, creating a calory deficit is the bare bones of weight loss/management but there are a lot of obstacles that various people can face that make that much harder to achieve.

Problem is you’re thinking motivation comes before results. It’s not always like that, and people need help. Either way is fine.

Got depression? Just go have some fun. Headache? Stop having one! God. Broken leg? It'll heal better with a cast, but just use a stick and tape.

Wegovy Injections on 10:59 - Jun 11 with 6339 views | bluestandard | I've tried in the past and it does work to a degree, and appetite certainly does diminish. I didn't continue with it because I reached a plateau. IMO, injections doesn't really address the root cause for people who carry excess weight, which is insulin resistance.

Semaglutide, it’s a GLP-1 antagonist. It replicates a hormone that is released to suppress your appetite.

Please feel free to tell me to fcuk off as I am completely unaware of your circumstances, an there may be vaid reasons why you are on the injections, but 6KG is just short of a Stone. Most people could eat sensibly and run a few Kilometres a week and lose 2 to 3lbs a week. As I said, I don't know your personal circumstances but I can't help but feel that getting an injection is going to encourage people to live a less healthy lifestyle.

Look at it this way Results = Motivation Getting started is the hardest part, for some people it’s almost impossible. Especially with the tossers on social media. Where this can help is getting people started, seeing the results, and being educated about nutrition and fitness. I genuinely think semaglutide is going to be the thing that gets more people into a healthier lifestyle than anything else. As you rightly point out, you don’t know their circumstances, and your support of eating less and moving more is entirely correct. We all know everyone has their own reasons, and that includes excuses and limiting beliefs. As a kickstarter, great. Get some results and education. If it’s used as anything else, it appears the effects are temporary and people go back to their original state.

Wegovy Injections on 13:20 - Jun 11 with 6148 views | mutters | Last year i tried Saxenda, which is similar but a daily injection. I found it to be very good, lost nearly 10kgs in 5 months, and it really helped me to feel much better about myself both mentally and physically. I had put on the excess weight after an operation meant I had to pause my swimming for a period so I could recover. They stopped supplying that and I moved to Weogvy and found it not for me. I plateaued and didn't feel the expense was worth it. I then proceeded to put the weight back on due to me not making any of the right decisions around food and so returned to old habits. Recently I have been trying Moujano, similar to Wegovy but it affects additional receptors that control hunger. Only been a month or so but I have managed to shift 4kgs. The big difference this time is that I have adjusted my eating habits which should serve me better once I come off it. Don't listen to the naysayers, if this is right for you then go for it. It is not cheap but i can justify it by saying what is the long-term cost of not taking appropriate action. I have only just recovered from another op which was a follow-up from the one previously so just exercising more has not been an option until the last few weeks. Please focus on eating and exercise habits as well else you run into the risk of being a yo-yo with your weight. Wish you well, happy to chat more if you want somebody to discuss or even keep you motivated :-)

I wouldn't say fck off as conversation is good on these matters, but i would say its not a black-and-white decision as you make it out to be. Often people who are on these have to pass a more stringent test before they are allowed. I had to provide weight, BMI, body shape, blood glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure before I could be considered. If your BMI is in the obese category (30+) then you will be able to get this fairly easy, if you have other reasons then they will delve deeper into the reasons why just running and eating less doesn't work. My BMI is not in the 30+ so the doctors wanted to assess me differently. I am sure there are lots of people who once they get going with it, and start to feel better about themselves it could be a world changer for them. I personally see it as an investment in my future and if I am not worth less than £200 a month then I am doing myself a disservice. (I do appreciate that I am fortunate to have the spare cash to do this, not everybody does)

Magic Pill by Johann Hari is a great read on this very subject. A balanced look at the pros and cons. He's been on a couple of podcasts talking about it too. What I gleaned from it was using diet/exercise, just how low the % rate of people who manage to keep the weight off for a prolonged (1 year +) period is. And also reinforces just how awful being obese is for your mortality and chances of cancer/heart disease/diabetes etc.

I did wonder if the effects were temporary. So ok for the short term but eat less and exercise more in the long term.
