The absolute floundering when asked to name a sacrifice, and eventually coming up with Sky TV.

Yes, Rishi, your parents not subscribing to a relatively rare luxury product during your childhood really adds to that 'man of the people' schtick.

Probably plays well with the "why have they got a mobile phone when they're on benefits" crowd, though.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

I thought it was quite telling that he could stand up yesterday and say that a good portion of the extra expenditure they announced would be funded by clamping down on tax evasion whilst he spends plenty of money to legitimately avoid tax.

He could of course, pay tax like everyone who can't afford a hugely expensive accountant.

I was about to slam you for falling for a parody account posting an AI video. It's called Parody Rishi Sunak, with the handle @Parody_PM.

Then I noticed it had a source of ITV with a confirmation tick.

I clicked on that.

It's real!

The Rishi Sunak Parody account is just posting clips of Rishi Sunak speaking without comment!

He has killed political satire, just by being him.

Boris started that, didn't he? He just handed the baton to Rishi.

I rember not being able to have biscuits for a time as a kid. They were simply an unaffordable luxury. My mum didn’t work when I was younger, which was common in the 70, and we just made do off one wage. I was loved and supported though and never felt like I was missing anything. (There’s probably a life lesson in there).

We didn't have a place in the country when I was a young child.

We did. Because we couldn’t afford to live in a town!

Who says private education doesn’t pay? You can see why people find a way to send their kids to private schools.

As everybody on Teslachat is saying:

That was nothing to do with not being able to afford it. Your parents didn't subscribe to Sky because they were massive snobs who didn't want a satellite dish on their house, Rishi.

eh when I was boy we couldn't afford an under butler so had to make do with a butler and 4 footman

that were nothing when I was boy having 4 footman would have been luxury, we only had two maid to change the beds, wash the sheets and help nanny make us comfy at night time

I enjoyed the bit where the leader of the party of 'young people spend all their money on Netflix and avocados', 'they'll only spend their benefits on fags and booze' and 'you can feed a family of 48 for 11p a day' told us that 'you will always be better at spending your money than the government is'.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

The first thing I'd like to say is nothing wrong with being rich. Some gain their wealth by hard work, others are born into it. But telling people you know their struggles when clearly you haven't a clue is just plain stupid and does little for you credibility. Saying the Tories have brought down inflation, cut taxes and that pay rises are making people better off is rubbish. In no way am I saying I am poor, not wealthy, but not poor either. I am only better off because I don't have a large mortgage and children to bring up. I had done all that. Worked from around 13 years of age until I was 71. Don't want an award for that, just saying. Have any political party ever made me better off ? answer = an emphatic NO. During my lifetime I have known people who have virtually everything I have and haven't in their lifetime done many days work. Am I voting Tory, Labour, Lib Dems, Reform, Greens ? Nope. Because I neither trust or believe any of them. The Tories had fourteen years and blew it. Starmer isn't much better than Sunak and the rest may as well forget getting into power. They will all promise this and that. Will they deliver. Well again the Tories had fourteen years and we are worse off in almost every respect and Starmer won't have the ammo to spend his way out.

We were so poor we had to gather outside Radio Rentals in the freezing cold to watch the Bruce Forsyth Show. It's where I learnt lip-reading.

When you say you won’t vote for any of the parties and that starmer isn’t any better than Sunak what do you base that on? You do know he hasn’t actually been PM yet. Sure he lacks a bit of charisma but perhaps it would be wise to give him a chance before saying he is as bad as the government that have had 14 years in office. I think it’s unfair to say he is just as bad when he hasn’t even had 1 minute in office.
