Not sure if he's gone of his own accord or if I missed something and he's been banned but it's a shame that we lose posters like Stokie while a lot of empty vessels remain and make a lot of noise.

Clearly a pretty decent guy with a thorough knowledge, but he came across as very sanctimonious at times which I think annoyed a lot of folk. Never bothered me, but he was all to happy at times to pile into others who didn't share his views. A good asset to the board though. Hasn't he done this before? |
More often than not it wasn’t about views though. Stokie didn’t tolerate people who were anti-science/evidence. Maybe he should have let more stuff go more, but I can understand why someone would stand up to the likes of anti-vaxers. |  |

Much admit. I did have to laugh at the constantly hounded part. Wonder what that feels like. (As herbz goes round down arrowing everyone of my posts ;))
Anyways. As someone who has been off and back on, I hope he enjoys the break and joins as us all again as the season starts. We are all town fans after all and should share this journey together. [Post edited 2 Jul 2024 21:26]

No mate. Must have left about 8-9 years ago. Was a lot of fun back in the day though with TWTD’ers creating one of the biggest and best leagues around.
Spent a lot of the years following that making my own game. Got serious investment and it got really far but never quite got completed for a number of reasons - bad luck, costly developers not doing what they’d agreed to, a large investor backing out to at a crucial time to put money into another game and no doubt the odd naive decision on my part. Hope SB is back soon and well.
Had a minor fallout about a decade ago when I ran an online manager league where he was unbelievably good to the point where it was quite suspicious and I got complaints from other players. Consulted the people who ran the whole game who didn't think what he (and Cotty) were doing was realistically above board and ended up banning him on the basis of this.
Some time later, with some backtracking from those running the game, when it was far too late, they admitted it was actually possible to work out the game if you were clever enough.
Of course, having got to know SB and Cotty through their posts it turns out they were both very nice and very bloody clever individuals who I am now 100% certain did nothing wrong. Has always annoyed me since that the guidance I got initially was to boot them out rather than the game admitting it wasn't anywhere near as sophisticated as it made out when up against mathematical titans or those willing to do a good deal of research and experimentation. I think their intelligence has always come across clearly in their posts here.
You live and learn. Have always enjoyed their posts since and both struck me as very decent people.

Can't remember the last time I saw Benters mentioned to be honest, certainly don't recall anyone laying into him the way a few of you have with Stokie. And pretty sure Stokie has taken a break of his own accord, not been banned for racism, so it's not really a fair comparison in any case. |
