@Phil / or anyone in the know know what’s going on with this fella? Is it a case of offer on the table and see if it’s accepted? Seems odd that we bid so much money and then radio silence since. Maybe we’ve just moved on?

I would think it’s broken down by now. If that’s by club or player I don’t know.
We bid ages ago and he is not here. I can’t see it happening now.

I feel we have moved on and looking at other ie Delap etc

I understand that the offer remains on the table, and remains the largest offer made. I can see us making an improved best and final offer this week, with Town walking away if the offer is not accepted.

Not dead, yet.

Just been chatting to my Greek source, as it happens. Nothing new from Town, Bologna appear favourites. I get the impression we've moved on, although the offer seems to still be on the table. Still the highest offer but Bologna seem likely to match or go above it. Panathinaikos want €30 million and I'm not sure we'll go that high. Obviously other targets given Delap's presence at the club on Thursday.

….would appear to be a bit of a downgrade on the Greek chap.

Do you make the assumption that if we sign Delap, we’d still be looking for a “1st choice” number 9 or do you think Delap is viewed as that man?

I don’t see striker options of Hirst, Delap and AAH bring strong enough for the Prem personally.

What do you think Phillip? I value your judgment deeply.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. As per the post elsewhere in the thread, I agree with you.

Agree with this, although I feel Delap would be a good signing and someone that can definitely grow, I’d still be hoping we were in the market for a standout number 9.

….signing Delap at all.

But I’d be really concerned if we went into the season with those 3 as our strikeforce!

Think we have moved on as it would have been a loan ni dis time. Possibly a contract later on.

Hard to tell from the outside with just media reports to go on but the player doesn’t seem that keen to come here anyway.

Not sure I want us spending that amount of money on someone who is lukewarm about joining.

I’ve no idea how you’ve come to this conclusion. Do you feel the same about Philogene or Greaves? The last time I looked neither had come out in Public and said I want Ipswich. Would actually look at it the complete opposite. Player stays silent, has respect for club his at and contract = good egg, personality type we would be after.
