What would you expect from a crowd at a Test Match?

Think it depends on the occasion really. I was there the day of the denmark game for a 20/20 and it was more like an open air 20,000 person boozer that evening, with the cricket completely incidental... barely noticed by most.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

no theyre respectful, at least the ones who pay to get in are, and dont see the need to turn a game of cricket into some kind of Friday night down the boozer disco football match.

the only weirdness about the place is the amount of champange corks that end up on the boundary, but those are from the hospitality folks, who care neither for the game or the sport.

A balance of both respect for Test cricket and a fun atmos is entirely possible - try going to a Test at Headingley - recommend sitting in the West Stand to combine enjoying both a bit of a party + serious attention to the game.

Brilliant ground and had many a fun time watching there, especially against the Australians. Depends who you go with and where you sit.

The Western Terrace used to be somewhat lively - ask any opposition player unfortunate enough to find themselves fielding on the boundary. But as you say people knew the game. It's a bit more sanitised now and less fun with a younger daytripper crowd doing beer snakes.

The only 'sanitisation' I've seen is from over-zealous stewards confiscating inflatables. And the crowd I (as a 50+, 60+ and now 70+) have sat amongst there have been far from "daytrippers" - they know their stuff.
