Good luck to him if he does go there, its been a right saga and a shame as he's a quality player who I would've loved to see here, but life goes on.
We want people here that really fancy it, we've got Johnson, Hutchinson, Greaves and Delap over the line (seemingly). £50m spent, presumably a fair amount more to bring in another 4 or 5. |  | | |

And now they have the opportunity to do it all over again.

i'm not overly fussed on Whittaker. Think the Championship is his level. He likes playing on that right hand side and cutting in on his left, so would probably need a little reset from Burns and the left hand side looks the weaker part of the team atm. |  | | |

The fact that Emery has just green lighted the move makes me think the first bid was to either try and force us to increase our fee or flush out the individual amounts for Greaves and Philogene.
The fact we're now seemingly getting Greaves for £15m+£3m whilst before it was him and Philogene for a reported £40m... I think we've done well out of this. | |

For me, the next move has to be Jack Clarke. Another slippery customer who can play on the left and either cut in or go to the byline.
I believe they slapped an £18m price tag on him earlier in the summer, but I wonder if there's a deal to be done around the £15m mark. | | | |

I know. I'm not explaining it very well.
Basically. I think villa want him for future. But if ipswich sign him then they've lost the opportunity to buy him at this value due to their match fee clause with hull.
So they sign him back on. Loan him back out and carry on.
It works for philogene as he now has a bumper pay rise. Goes back to the club he enjoyed football with last season and then cracks on as a villa player in 2025/26. | |

Let's put it this way, i'm glad we've got Hutchinson more than this guy. At leasty its the end. As soon as it said earlier a separate deal has been done for Greaves you knew this was the outcome.

I very much doubt Villa would spend that money and then offload him on loan. But if they did, there would be a Premier League taker I'm sure. Maybe even Town. But I'm sure that's not the plan.
It's a shame, but this was the one that I always thought looked the most ambitious from our point of view. Nothing wrong with a bit of ambition, but I always thought it would be crazy for a player like him with bags of confidence to turn down a crack at the Champions League. |  | | |
