BBC POST MATCH HYPOCRITES 22:58 - Jul 14 with 4703 views | pete81 | Yes quite right to give Southgate and the team pelters for the first 4 games but to much tonight. Tonight it's a good effort for 2 finals in three years...miles better than those in the studio moaning achieved.... Lineker 1 semi final (although clearly no disrespect to dear old Bob) Shearer 1 semi final Ferdinand especially harsh and what the "golden generation " with 3 x quater finals? Michelle Richards err?...

Micah Richards clearly bloomin predictive text... But yeah having defended him it's time for a change but no need to go all daggers in tonight...time to change over the next few days and weeks...

BBC POST MATCH HYPOCRITES on 23:04 - Jul 14 with 4126 views | SWBlue22 | Shearer bottled it and quit at 30. The EGO generation were dogsh1t Southgate has restored hope and the love for the national team but will not deliver a trophy because of his tactical incompetence. I thank him but he needs to go now. None of them in that BBC studio could even complain judge etc as they were arguably better and achieved less.

Exactly. Which is why I think we should respect what Southgate has done for the team. He really has changed the mentality and expectations. But I think we probably need a change to get us to the next level.

BBC POST MATCH HYPOCRITES on 23:20 - Jul 14 with 3971 views | Bugs | I completely disagree. England were poor tonight and for the majority of the competition. There isn't one England player since 1966 that is allowed to criticise the performance and tactics of the England team tonight by your logic. That's just silly. I think their, analysis was pretty spot on and would love to hear how you think that using tactics that don't utilise some of the most attacking threats in European football was the right thing to do?

Of course we could have been more adventurous and yep time for a change of manager (although really what is the alternative). Just think it was OTT criticism from basically a bunch of England bottle jobs in the studio | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Next tournament we will face a Spain or France in the QF and narrowly lose, after which half the country will unironically plead for Gareth to come back. Broken Britain.

England of old would expect to get to the quarters if we’re in line to play a big team… like France… which we lost to… in the World Cup Quarters. How are people so thick not to see that we are in exactly the same place as always just that we have had easy draws for most of the last tournaments?

Disagree. Poor for most of the tournament but not tonight or against the Dutch (1st half especially). A poor performance would have seen us hammered. We went toe to toe with clearly the best and most dynamic team at the tournament. Miles better than the group stages or Slovakia. So poor tonight Spain were celebrating like scoring when clearing off the line in the 90th minute. Changes are clearly needed though as without Kane and some pace up top from the start I think we would have given Spain many more problems.

Not sure why anyone expected us to win. I lost all such expectations when we played an experimental eleven in in a pre tournament warm up. Someone mentioned Shearer bottled it at age 30, hopefully Kane will follow his example. Kane, like Shearer did, needs the summer break to prepare for the next season.

Exactly this. World Cup 2018: Tunisia (W), Panama (W), Belgium (L), Colombia (W on penalties), Sweden (W), Croatia (L aet), Belgium (L) Euro 2020: Croatia (W), Scotland (D), Czech Republic (W), Germany (W), Ukraine (W), Denmark (W aet), Italy (L on penalties) World Cup 2022: Iran (W), USA (D), Wales (W), Senegal (W), France (L) Euro 2024: Serbia (W), Denmark (D), Slovenia (D), Slovakia (W aet), Switzerland (W on penalties), The Netherlands (W), Spain (L) We failed to beat any world class side under Southgate in a tournament. Two decent sides on home soil in Croatia and a wavering Germany plus a reasonable side in the Dutch at Euro 2024, but they had their own issues. He hardly went above and beyond considering the players at his disposal.

We beat the Dutch and the Germans in the Euros which gave great pleasure. We got through when we should. The one that got away was the final V Italy when Pickford saved 2 penalties. And against Spain we were close. The English spirit was there this tournament. Good luck to anyone that follows Southgate. His legacy is a world class team that can take on any team in the world, but may be squeezed out in a knock out game VS the best side in the tournament. [Post edited 15 Jul 2024 10:04]

BBC POST MATCH HYPOCRITES on 14:24 - Jul 15 with 2153 views | OldFart71 | Could it be that although being the Country that invented the sport England has gradually lost it's identity. Country's like say Italy and it's players have always been brought up to defend. Spain on the other hand have been brought up on passing and moving. Many of those Country's players also play for the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus etc. Teams in Britain only have a few English players that according to their managers fit in and around the foreign players. Many of us agree that for a majority of the time we are far more interested in our team that what's going on with England. Although I watched the Euro's I didn't watch any England friendlies or qualifying games. I just wasn't interested. Players required for England games often have and I feel it's convenient, a little niggle, so they are not fit to play and we would rather see them in our team than get injured or be tired after playing for England. Yet we expect a manager to have a team ready for the Euro's or World Cup despite him only having a few day's to prepare them. When England won the World Cup way back in 66 you had Hurst and Peters from West Ham and you had Chariton and Stiles from Man Utd. So two of your forward line and two midfield. Yes I know we has three Man City players, two defenders and one midfield/forward. Of the three John Stones was by far the best. Foden had one good game and Walker was to blame for both Spain's goals. Anyone notice how Spain got no change out of Shaw so switched attack second half ?

BBC POST MATCH HYPOCRITES on 16:27 - Jul 15 with 1967 views | The_Flashing_Smile | They are pundits, and top ex-pros, paid to give their opinion on the games. How well they did is irrelevant (and it's a team game in any case... so blaming Lineker for achieving one semi is just odd). If it were failed managers giving their opinion then you might have a bit more of a point.
