Whoever we are looking at for this really important position I would assume somewhere along the way MA and KMcK would have been talking about a natural successor to Morsy , not only in a positional sense but the captaincy

You might be right, but McKenna has never played with a ‘big’ centre mid, Luongo is only 5”9 and Humphreys has even played there before, so I wouldn’t rule it out.
