If you have some concrete steps to remove you can always just construct a cupboard around them to hide them!
Bodge jobs r us.
Would’ve been way before Evans’ time as well I reckon.
Same as the floodlight pylons, beggars belief they didn’t get rid of them when they done the work 20 odd years ago but bet that was going to cost more!

If they're using cladding rather than plastered, painted walls, it'll be finished pretty quickly. About three quarters of most jobs is prep and sorting out the bits which will never be seen again (until the next refurb, at least). If you can throw people at it - and know they'll actually turn up - that helps, too.
Who's going to turn down a call from ITFC to come in to help them at the moment, with every prospect of a nice payday and some freebie incentives for the season to come? Can't see there being many refuse. Bit of a once in a lifetime opportunity, a little slice of history - even if it does nark a few of your existing customers!
Rumour is for the pre season games all changing facilities will be at the SCC offices across the road, officials at the bus station and showers in the hotel after. Post game drinks in the Conference suit at IBC offices and the fan zone has been moved to the park.
What a tremendous mess that stadium is in and in MA we trust.

That's a helluva lot of work there're doing. Presumably, they are also getting it Champions League ready for next season.
Depending on the size of the step-up needed from PL standards to UEFA standards, it wouldn't surprise me if the wholesale disruption this summer is seen as an opportunity to over-spec in anticipation of potential future requirements, rather than risk having to rip it all out and start again in a few seasons' time.
Rumour has it that when Ipswich got promoted to the First Division in 1968 they spent the princely sum of 5 shillings on a coat of paint for the dressing room doors.

Whilst it is important to promote ITFC to all and sundry and all the things going on are required it really shows how crazy a league the Premier is where officials have to have massage facilities. Not much wonder the saying is "Who's the w*nker in the black" It's just OTT. All at the behest of Sky tv and as Roy Keane said "The prawn sandwich brigade" Town will need all of the £105 million they receive from tv. Add all this to the 50+ million so far spent on players and you are a hefty old wedge. But we can also hark back to the ME era where everything was allowed to get so run down.

That struck me as well. So many of the upgrades appear to be for the benefit of the gravy train and its hangers-on, rather than having any significant benefit on the players' or fans' stadium experience.

Any idea when this was done?
Can't believe we have a friendly to play with all the internal works still needing done. So just curious when it was done.
I know someone who's firm had quoted for the media centre above the control box and he told me at the Huddersfield game (last season) it wouldn't be ready if the first game of this season was at home. That was without any involvement in the playoffs.
He said then that a lot of the problems at PR is during Sheepshanks, and previous mgmt time, some work was done on the cheap, cut a few corners. Nothing was against building regs but now whenever they do work at PR they find something wrong which needs to be corrected and takes longer than planned.
I was in Suffolk yesterday and chatting to him, and said I find it amazing Luton got all their work done. He explained it's possible Luton's stadium is so old it some ways it's easier (quicker) because you're starting from a clean base, whereas at PR they have to undo what was done previously.

I've seen more inviting players lounges in the national league. I think its those floor tiles, they look a bit naff. Maybe they'll be less obvious when its furnished.

I suspect speed came into it to some degree. They were working against the clock to get the work done. They were building two stands and trying to get people back in as soon as possible. Fairly typical of building projects to leave stuff below ground, I think, isn't it? Probably an element of running out of money after relegation and trying to scrimp on elements at that stage.

Stadium Bowl is normal parlance in the sports industry.
Look all this work will only ever be seen by the people using them.wags families. Tv ..media. none of them are ever going to comment on it ..its the stadium in appearance itself and pitch that will be seen by the outside world that Is important..plus that work going on should be covered by the extra 10 mill we receiving cos of twi teams coming back up to Premiership..so that was a bonus

Yeah that was probably a factor as well, they probably didn’t expect anyone to ever dig there again haha.

Journalists regularly comment on how some grounds are and the hospitality they receive. It’s good for everything to be we presented and nice.
