Players remembered for just one moment 23:43 - Aug 9 with 3746 viewsTractorFrog

I was thinking that if Jeremy Sarmiento doesn’t play for us again, despite a lot of good contributions for us across the season, whenever anyone mentions his name in the future, every Ipswich fan will just think of that goal against Southampton.

Which other players are remembered just for one moment? Richard Chaplow comes to mind with the goal against Watford in 2015.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

Despite being a terrific little man marker ... I doubt Roger Osborne really gets to discuss much other than a certain goal he scored!

Nobody will remember this, but I remember Ian Redford for the goal he scored against Watford in the Zenith Data Systems Cup tie at Portman Road in November of 1989.

He was already one of my favourite players - as a kid I followed the Dundee Utd European adventure of 1987 in the UEFA Cup. I was thrilled when he came to Ipswich.

I've found a record of the team that night, and I'm assuming that it was Frank Yallop who broke down the right and aimed a cross at an onrushing Redford.

He headed the ball from just outside the area straight into the top corner. I'd never seen anything like it.

There were only about 5000 people there, so I doubt many of you were in attendance, but the game was memorable for a David Gregory hat-trick on what was maybe his debut?

I was so sad when he passed a few years ago. My favourite player from the John Duncan era.

Which Reuser play off goal?

Being facetious but he was a lot more than just the Wembley goal. Scored some wonderful free kicks.

Ulrich Le Pen and his injury on his debut?

At what? Tiddlywinks I presume.

Bryan Gunn - remembered for my comedy gold ITFC moment. I didn’t cheer as the ball rolled in. I was too busy laughing.

I'd completely forgotten about that game and that goal, but reading your message brought the memories flooding back!

Wonder if that would be on YouTube or somewhere, would be good watch that again.

Finidi George v Derby - what a magnificent, world-class, signing we've got ourselves here!

However he did also do it first at Leicester and anyone who was there knows that is where "Magic" was born!

Alun Armstrong’s power header for Ipswich + Inter reserve against Inter reserves?

Also Robin Turner tends to be remembered for his FA Cup heroics at Eastville.

My special mention goes to Marco Holster for his debut at Grimsby

Sergei Baltacha's debut v Stoke in 1988. The whole stand reverberated to chants of "Sergei, Sergei" when he scored. Shame we never played him in his best role of sweeper. Remember his picture on the programme with his missus, who looked a bit like the blonde one out of Abba.
