This line will have been fed to Kinsella by Broja's agent to weed out serious parties.

He's definitely interested in playing for us.

This coming from the same 'source' that told you Ryan Kent was a done deal at €3m?

*Yawn*

What do you want from me, blood? I got the info on Broja around the same time as the Phillips story broke (several users on here will vouch as I PM'd them re. Broja well before Watson published his article).

All I know is he's had really good talks with Kieran. Whether he'd rather a permanent move elsewhere personally than have another loan remains to be seen. But we're in the mix.

So is he interest or not?

2 different ITKs saying different things!!

Verbatim, my brief WA exchange with almost the horse's mouth:

- Broja coming to Town?

- They are pushing very hard

- Is he interested?

- Not really atm

Confirms what Nizaar Kinsella said who is a very well briefed Chelsea journo.

Doesn't mean he wont come but sounds like he's waiting to see better options and if Everton come back.

To be fair to PK, sounds like there was a meeting and although the player may not wish to come here atm (as I understand from my source), there must be some interest otherwise his team wouldn't have taken the meeting.

As somebody said on a different thread, that seems to be the power of McKenna.

There was 100% a meeting yesterday in LDN.

The only thing that may be a stumbling block is that we can only afford it as a season loan. He may have other ideas about a permanent move elsewhere to rebuild his career. I hear Calvert-Lewin's departure may give Everton scope to get him, but is Broja ready to be Everton's main man? Doubtful IMO.

The original chat I had with the person in question was back in early June that Broja to Everton was all agreed and Everton had found a buyer for Calvert Lewin. Obviously that didn't materialise so not sure where that is now. But Broja was keen and agreed personal terms.

Given he has hasn't played for 2 years and is on £100k pw, not sure who else, other than Everton would be willing to pay the £30m or so.

It was an attempt at a gag*

You said almost from the horses mouth in relation to Broja. There's a very popular netflix animated series called Bojack Horseman

*I use the words attempt and gag very lightly

Considering we were in london tieing up other deals, couldn't it just be that Broja agent is just using us reps to start a bidding war.

a niche perspective

Chelsea definitely want to sell. Just had lunch with a Chelsea fan who has connections at the club. - Note, a fan who hates what the Chelsea owners are doing at the club especially with trying to flog all the young players.- Anyway he said they definitely want a sale rather than a loan, but a loan is still an option given the size of their squad.

Said with another player, Chelsea are talking to a club about splitting the payment between loan & permanent. So player ABC is loaned to club xyz this season if the club aren't relegated club xyz pay a £10m loan fee at the end of the season (that falls into this year's FFP rules) and then £20m at the start of next season for the permanent deal (which falls into next year FFP ). So Chelsea get the £30m they want for that player and it also helps the buying club*. Not sure what the agreement is if club us relegated.

*obviously I cannot disclose the player or buying club

We both assumed that is allowed under FFP. Also not sure if that is an option for Ipswich

Hopefully Omari been on the case! But seriously you would think Broja would have spoken to Omari and got a glowing review which may make Broja fancy us over some other PL clubs if in for him

The number of players Chelsea have they may never even have met.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

If they can sell the hotel and training ground to themselves under FFP then I would imagine this is allowed!

To it probably won't happen til the end of the month.

Broja in talks by portmanking 15 Aug 2024 12:44
Indeed.

Journos on Chelsea side keen to stress Broja has multiple offers as they'd prefer a sale this window. No-one is prepared to come anywhere close to their £30-£35m asking price though.

They're probably right that it won't be concluded until nearer the end of the month when Chelsea fail to get a permanent suitor.

To the loan might be a stumbling block.

All in the space of three hours. I don't want anything from you, but you don't seem as accurate about stuff as others give you credit for, save McKenna staying. I don't see any original posts from you that were accurate. But I'm happy for you to prove me wrong.

Lots of reports over the last week or so saying he was headed into europe on a season loan with obligation to buy at around 15 million euros - so that's a very different figure.

I'd be sceptical Chelsea will get it but apparently that's the figure they're trying to talk up.

Have to think, if he’s not ready to be Everton’s main man then is he ready to be ours?
