Call Me Ted posters 19:51 - Aug 16 with 22335 views | call_me_ted | Hi, hopefully it’s not breaking any forum rules to post about our a new project we’re doing - creating gig-style posters for Ipswich matches. Our aim is to work with different artists to create 19 unique artworks for all of Town’s home games this season. You might have spotted our first poster, by Town season ticket holder Go Bernard, in shops and pubs around Ipswich (signed versions also available to buy at the Greyhound or online). Thanks to those who have already shown their support.

The poster is based on a new painting we commissioned for the project, by Simon Farr. His acrylic on board work is a real thing of beauty and is currently being hung at Good Inside in the build up to the match. Do you do the painting or do you get a guest artist? If a guest then you should drop a PM to Victorywillhappen. He is an artist of international note.

Cool, please drop us a link. We work with the artist throughout the process, so our involvement varies. For the latest poster, which is getting some love from visiting fans, we commissioned the painting and then designed the accompanying layout and text. [Post edited 23 Nov 2024 22:10]

Should have done Omari, as he would have worked in both kits

I think it looks brilliant, a great nod to our new talisman. Omari played 49 minutes in a Chelsea shirt. The idea that he’s what bonds the 2 clubs stretches even artistic licence to the limit.

Really like this one. I’ve been trying to collect the lot but ordering in batches to try and keep postage costs down. Do you have any unsigned Newcastle ones? It’s the only one missing from my collection so far

I also think it is brilliant, hence why I upped the original post. I disagree that 49 minutes is the sum representation of Omari's connection to Chelsea. He spent six years there across two stints developing his game. I'm not sure why it would need to "bond the 2 clubs". Not like that is the intention of Delap and Palmer, or my suggestion.

Feel like this a really weak effort, it would appear that it has been produced by someone who doesn’t feel connected to the football club or sport at all. It’s very generic, and the quality looks like a child’s painting. Felt the same with the City one as well, it felt a bit lazy and last minute.

Definitely different from all those that have come before. I don’t know much about Call Me Ted but are they promoting/encouraging artists of all abilities? I loved the Everton one with the Colombian influence. This one isn’t for me either but art is subjective I guess.

I really like it. I read the artist's explanation of it on Twitter and really liked what she had to say. She lives close enough to PR to hear the crowd when we score!

This is a pretty disrespectful comment. Whether you personally like the artwork or not, it is the artist's career, they have a PhD from Chelsea College of Art, and have published books. Art is not a process by which photorealism is the best and something that looks like a sketch is the worst, and not all artists need to be "connected" to the subject matter to be able to make work (whatever "connected" means here) - regardless, the artist is from Suffolk and i think Call Me Ted are committed to supporting artists with a local connection. It certainly isn't lazy.

100% agree but also think opportunities could have been given to artists who are true ITFC supporters there have been some by non-partisans they still look good but lack the soul art isn’t just about initial visuality but how you actually feel when you absorb and even moreso later when you recollect (this is the moment when you all nod sagely and click your fingers and sh|t)

I'm an art critic, it's my job, you don't need to tell me what art is for or does. And I would disagree that you need to be a fan or in love with a subject to best represent, discuss or present it. Arguably, and often through the history of culture, that can lead to quite unintersting and empty, cliché aesthetics. [Post edited 14 Feb 9:52]

Call Me Ted posters on 10:33 - Feb 14 with 1032 views | itfcjoe | So far with the Call Me Ted's I'd say I'm roughly split the following 1/3 I've loved (and are up in my house) 1/3 I've liked 1/6 I've been a bit meh about 1/6 I've actively disliked But don't feel the need to say which ones come in the bottom category as guess that is just art at the end of the day!

I agree with your second and third sentences, but obviously reactions to art, music, literature etc. will always be subjective, so people should be allowed to voice their feelings & criticism without being slated for doing so (unless they are personal or abusive of course).
