We’ve skipped a generation of premier league football. We’re not here to make the numbers up but we are allowed to enjoy the occasion.

Let's not forget, last time we were in the prem camera phones weren't a thing I don't think you can begrudge kids a photo of players they've been watching in the biggest tournaments in the world whilst we've been mixing it with the likes of Forest Green Rovers. It's pretty bloomin' exciting!

Plastics on 18:54 - Aug 17 by Whos_blue | Jeez. Chill bro. I don't labeling young fans as disgusting is a good look mate. The EPL is a huge brand and in some ways we will have sold a little of our soul to get there. It's all part of modern football. For what it's worth, I'm 53 and if I got a chance to meet Kev DB I'd probably jump at the chance too. Doesn't make me less of a town fan. |
I was thinking, wait until Man City roll in to Town. I ain't a fan of half/half scarfs, it should just be the side you are supporting. As for the rest of his post, just absolutely ridiculous. Each and every one of our fans can celebrate us being up in the top flight however they like. (as long as they behave themselves) These are games some of our supporters have never seen. They are to be enjoyed.

Plastics on 18:25 - Aug 17 by Swansea_Blue | I suppose it’s just a momento of the match, a bit like captains exchanging the clubs’ pendants before a match, but for spectators. I’m not sure why someone would want 19 scarves in a season though. Or one in August come to that. It is a bit odd, but I can imagine someone might like one or two if they have a football memorabilia collects (say for our 78 and 81 cup finals). It’ll be half and half kits next for fans who only want to follow their local side when they’re doing well. |
Um, think you misunderstood me, which isn't surprising as I had to express myself in shorthand owing to my keyboard having no 'e' or 'r', & my magic sub keyboard cable being used to charge my phone at the time! What I meant was that I couldn't/can't understand why half & half scarves are viewed with such horror by some, as though they're instruments of the devil. Always thought it was a daft, supposedly trendy cynicism, ie fashionable to appear cool in their view. See nothing wrong whatsoever with buying one today, as a memento of what's clearly been a landmark & joyful day in our history, despite the result. As ppl age & memory of some gets worse, physical objects that you can hold & feel become more & more important important & precious. And winter's coming! ^shudder^. I might have bought one if I'd gone, or maybe made sure to hang onto my programme. Definitely wouldn't buy 19 though!

Plastics on 19:57 - Aug 17 with 2050 views | AlanG296 | When I saw the thread title, I thought it would be about the thousands of bits of plastic some people left on seats including mine in the SBR before the game. I get the idea but seems irresponsible environmentally to have these for a few minutes' display. Hope those responsible stayed behind to clear up and get them to appropriate recycling facility
Plastics on 20:09 - Aug 17 with 1994 views | tractorshark | Let’s be honest there are 10,000 new or rejuvenated fans at the club nowadays. And probably a fair percentage could be derided as plastic. The sort that wouldn’t have been there for Accrington and Fleetwood and won’t be there when our fortunes dip in the future. But that’s the same at any club in the land, including the big ones. And of those new fans, there will be a percentage of kids who will discover the love of a club, stick with it and provide the lifeblood of the fanbase for years to come. And that’s great. That’s why I have no issue in anyone getting pictures and autographs etc. It’s up to them. I hate the half and half scarves and I thought today’s looked cheap and tacky with knocked off badges but that’s the Prem. If people buy them, it’s up to them. The only observation I’d make today is the mood felt like a cup tie. Don’t get me wrong it was brilliant but the whole club, including players and fanbase, will have to adjust to the Prem. I don’t want it to feel like a big day out, I want us to establish ourselves in the division for years to come and to do that we’ve all got to believe we belong here. But, like I say, it was an incredible atmosphere and I’m not being critical. The only thing I was critical of was the tourist fan in the West Stand with his Liverpool Szobozslai shirt on. Looked like a Far East tourist who had got his ticket from a Viagogo/Stubhub site. Now that does p**s me off when a lot of genuine fans can’t get tickets at the moment. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Unless it was hard plastic I doubt it's recyclable and really it should have been paper sheets

Do we still want him? by Blooos 24 May 2024 7:32With everything going on with McKenna, even if he does end up staying, surely there’s now going to be a saltiness in the air? He’s clearly interested in other things and not 100% on us.. do we even want him anymore? With us going into the transfer market, it’s going to put potential players off coming here with all this noise now as a lot of players would join because of him. We can probably be sure Omari won’t be coming back now after all this.
I know he obviously isn’t an Ipswich fan like we are and clearly doesn’t have a connection to the club as much as we thought he did, clearly he’s more of a businessman than we thought. But we gave him his chance.
If he goes anywhere other than Man Utd which is clearly the job he wants then he can get fcked. Would be hoping he gets a hostile reaction if he returned as Brighton or Chelsea boss.

Personally I think if people want to take pictures of superstars, world wide, famous faces, then let them be. Personally (again) I didn’t and wouldn’t, but if people want to take photos as a memory of who they’ve seen play at PR - World wid efmsous faces - then so be it. We are a small fish in. A big pond now. Seeing Salah, VVD etc etc at PR today was crazy, and so it will carry on this season, next week we see Haaaland and KDB, that’s an experience.

Plastics on 18:38 - Aug 17 by ChrisAllen7 | Right... Here's my reply to you about your post!! I am the guy with my son getting the kids Liverpool shirt signed by Arne Slott after the game and let me give you so f'ricking content behind it. I'm an ex Ipswich academy player of 9 years and moved to Sweden when I was 20. I've lived there now for 16 years and flown back for over 120 home matches during that time. My Swedish son seen with me in this shot is also a devoted Ipswich fan who consistently gets s*** from the kids in his school because he wears his Ipswich shirt with pride and wants to spread our name. My son's friend is 10 and ill in hospital and we thought it might just brighten his day if we take his Liverpool shirt to Portman Road today to try and get it signed by some of the players..what the f Is wrong with that?? I guess you didn't see the 1 1/2 hours we stood in the same position before the game and my son filling up his own Ipswich shirt with autographs. So before you go posting your passive aggressive comments about me and my son getting a kids Liverpool shirt signed just think that there maybe certain reasons behind what you see!!!!!! 👏👏👏 A lovely thing to do, your son must be a lovely lad! However you shouldn't have to justify this. If a young boy wants to meet, take photos, or even get signatures from some of the best footballers/managers in the world he should be able to without getting abused online / criticised by grown men online. It's absolutely pathetic. Young kids are well within their rights to idolise/ have idolised some of these premier league superstars and what sort of world do we live in if we are telling our kids they cant express themselves when they see these superstars in the flesh!! What is the obsession with our fans trying to prove they are more worthy or bigger ipswich fans then some others, we all love the town and adore this team, welcoming Liverpool, taking a few photos, buying a "half and half" scarf as a souvenir from this great occasion and getting a few autographs, which from what I could see WAS MAINLY KIDS and parents, doesn't take away from that. I saw this on more than one occasion by the way, and maybe I jumped the gun a bit too quickly.. I hope he makes a full recovery. I was more aiming it at the half and half scarf brigade, the fact there was people in the home end with Liverpool shirts or shorts on. Just wound me up.

Times change, opportunities change, levels of football change. If at that time we had been out of the top flight for a couple of decades, there had been loads of freely available souvenirs of a huge game, and camera phones were a thing, would a lot of people have done the same with the likes of Best and Law, I thing so.
