We are worse off up top this season than last in a highly competitive top league of world football, Delap was meant to be playing out wide that’s my only issue.
For the 2 million odd Sheffield united paid we should have just signed Kieffer Morre and at least had him as an option before the top number 9 signing was even thought about. I guess time will tell but I do worry this might be our biggest failure to date when the stakes are so high to stay up.

I was thinking yesterday, that for all the money we've spent, we should've added Moore to the squad for such a low fee.

Imagine how disappointed you are going to be when you get to the pick n mix and they have ran out of milky bottles. Don't have a go at you Mum, she tried her best.

And would have allowed Ali to develop elsewhere. With the money being spent I suppose you’re right but Moore went over nearly when presumably we were more confident and likely to land our targets.

Delap was meant to be playing out wide? Said who?

No he wasn’t, he was brought in as a CF.

Delap was not brought in to play out wide.

And Moore really isn’t that good. Can’t jump, can’t control the ball and his movement is poor - Hirst is far better and showed it at the end of last season when he still wasn’t fully fit.

Moore did contribute some vital goals last season, but if Hirst hadn’t got injured in December, we wouldn’t have signed him.

He would have been third choice behind Delap and Hirst. No point. You need someone who is arguably first choice to move the bar up.

I believe and I'm more than happy for you to prove me wrong, but I believe when I suggested Moore after our promotion to the Premier League, you, among many others others told me that we were better than that now. If you weren't one of the many, then apologies, but pretty sure you were.

He signed quite early in the window though. He'd have been a very safe conservative option who hasn't really done it at Prem level when he's been there.

With hindsight that might have been better than ending up where we are but at the time the deal was made there much better options that we felt we could get over the line.

How much is hindsight these days? Probably out of our reach.
Sorry to you, but with all the should have/ could have posts on here the last 24 hours or so, I am looking for some positivity. We have a Premier League game to play today with a squad bursting with quality players. What should/could of happened isn't going to help anyone now.

I think it’s fairly obvious now that we need to be able to cast our net further afield (abroad). We need a larger pool of players, and better value. I appreciate Evans totally destroyed our scouting infrastructure but hopefully we are putting that right now.

Apology accepted.

Yeah that was kind of my point - clearly not worded well enough. Hindsight bias isn't helpful - the Moore deal wasn't a good enough one at the time at which it might have been possible.

Looking foward to seeing Delap get his first goal for us today!

Depends on the situation. 1-0 down at home to a big side if argue he'd be first choice. Hirst will be out for 30% of games imo.

Good grief, no. He was slow in the Championship. Given how KM likes his striker to play, I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do with with Delap. All the attributes are there - quick, strong, aggressive. Kieffer did know where the net was for us last season, but has struggled to establish himself and score in the PL.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Moore on 08:30 - Aug 31 with 1934 viewsDubtractor

We're not worse off. Delap us here to play centre forward and is a big upgrade on Moore.

That doesn't change the fact that we really could have done with another striker through the door, but let's not be too negative eh?

Worse off? We’ve added a £15m U21 international forward to Hirst and Al Hamadi. If Kieffer Moore was the solution then I am sure we would have got him, but he is not an improvement on what we have now.

The only reason Delap has played out wide so far is because we didn’t have the depth of wide players we now have.

We now have a very fast, strong and mobile front starting line up and then some depth on the bench.

Comparing last seasons strikers to this and saying we are weaker now doesn’t make any sense unless your logic is Moore is better than Delap as that’s the only change. Fine if you think that but I’d much rather have Delap.

Or did see not have enough money because she spent to much on other sweets so was restricted with what she could spend on the milky bottles?
