The more annoyed I am that he’s not scored that. A big space he made for himself, and he’s hit it right for the keeper to save with whole goal open to him
Interestingly. That was what Hutchinson was doing early in last season. Then after he got going he started finding bottom corners and latter in the season top corners. No idea why that would be the case other than maybe confidence?

If Omari can improve his shooting he is going to be an absolute top player.
I mean I’d not say his shooting is bad.
But now it’s got me thinking of the very tame shot he had vs liverpool. If we get less chances we need to be more productive with those we do get. That won’t be news to KM of course.

Last season even Haaland failed to score with 75% of the shots he took (27 goals from 113 shots). Last season Omari was scoring with about 1 shot in 6. He's taken 5 so far this season so hopefully his next one will go in

You used the wrong emoji...fancy blubbing about down votes!!

No I used the correct one, I’m laughing about it. If I was upset, or blubbing as the cool kids on here say, I’d opt for maybe an angry face emoji.
He's beaten the man, has a clear sight of goal, but the shot is weak. It’s what happened, and watching it back (was on the TV in the gym, and replayed 3/4 times, so had a good watch of it) I was annoyed. At the time I was all excited we’d nearly nicked a winner.
Would hazard a guess that you’ll revert to your weird obsession as opposed to discussing the football though

5 downvotes 😂
You lot are just too much at times.
Sorry, the more I watch it, the happier I get that he’s not scored it. Hopefully that’s better for the drip brigade

But even having made the space (which he did brilliantly), you score it 1 in 4 max. Xg won't be more than that.
It's like in golf an 8 foot putt for a pro looks simple but statistically even the top pros are making it only 50% and your average joe obviously way less.
Its because you've seen them go in many times you think it's more likely than it is.

Hold on, a professional from 10 yards out, with a clear sight of goal, only scores that chance 1 in 4 times? You sure?

xG is far from perfect but from the datapoints that Opta have with the shooter, defender and goalkeeper in the positions that they are it's actually only scored 2 out 100 times.
If you look at where the Fulham defenders are if it he puts it anywhere other than where he does there's a good chance a defender gets something on it which is probably why the xG is so low.

0.04xG on that Omari chance on an xG map I just saw - 1 in 25 go in. About 7x less likely a goal than the Delap header.
Not an exact science (and will have included pressure from the man, goalkeeper position, angle etc.) but it was a really difficult chance that he has made look simpler previously.

On FBRef who use the Opta data it was even lower than that at 0.02. Like you say a more difficult chance that it looks.
Off topic, but I’d be interested to know if VAR might have disallowed it had he scored. It looked like the ball bounced up onto Omari’s arm as he turned (saw on MOTD). Would this be deemed to handball?

Think he was more than 10 yards. With defenders all around, side on having just spun and moving at pace and a professional premier League goalkeeper in goal. Yes I'm sure. As following posts have stated and as I suggested in my post it would be less than that xg wise which is based on statistical data. Xg obviously doesn't work exactly for any one given scenario but it gives you a statistical likelihood based on a lot of date from similar scenarios.
Summary: don't be angry about it. it was a chance but was always more likely not to score.
Have you seen the behind angle? Calvin Bassey is a hard bloke to miss and he's directly between Omari's shot and the goal. He's sets his block position as the ball is struck too, so I'm not sure where you're seeing the whole goal open to him - is it that you think he should have kept running with it? Don't get me wrong, I was waiting for the net to bulge - drilling it through Bassey's legs, picking out the far corner, lucky deflection etc. - but a reported xG of 0.04 sounds fair for the opportunity when it was struck. Jimenez had a better chance minutes before when he stung Muric's palms from the angle, as at least there wasn't a defender in the way of that one.

Here's the chance again. Optimistically we're all backing him to score from there of course, but I really don't see how you're chalking it up as a big miss. I didn't notice the defender flying across his path either at the time.
