Ashtons next career move 11:04 - Sep 5 with 3675 views | textbackup | Now I’m not suggesting he’s going to up and leave, after all the work he’s put in to get us where we are. However, if in 5/6/7 years we are a well established PL team, and he fancies a different challenge… where does he go? Picked up by a team in the next bracket of football (europe competing)? Start again with a championship team? Utilise his skills away from football, with his American contact could he move into sport over there? Be an interesting one, obviously depends on how we do of course.

I disagree that there's much scope for growth. Once Messi leaves, the MLS franchise then loses a bucketload of value. One of the main reasons we're seeing an influx of US investors in our leagues is because they're quickly realising the scope for growth *isn't* what they thought it could be. Even Brett Johnson recently admitted as such in a YouTube interview. The influx of Latin Americans to the US will ensure the English Premier League becomes the most in-demand "soccer" product in America.

What do you mean by finger in the pie? Are you saying that he is personally due dividends from Gamechanger and/or related entities rather than simply being remunerated by Town?

The alleged value of a MLS franchise is £648 million - and not just alleged because MLS soccer is regulated. The alleged ost the cowboys paid for Ipswich was just north of £40 million - and eye-watering increase in value from the £8.5 million Evans bought the club for before losing something akin to £1 million a month for more than a decade and taking them down a division, This clearly increased the club’s value five fold… a mystifying trick repeated by Gamechanger who promptly continued to lose £1 million a month but allegedly valued the club at £240 million when they flogged off a portion to a gullible hedge fund. The reason that UK football clubs are so attractive to US chancers is that their inflated value allows them to borrow money back in the USA against a high value asset they may (or may not) own. The reason that US soccer might take off is the same as it was in the 70s when there was an even more impressive blip of hype and success. The reason it will continue to fail is more due to soccer not being a key part of the college system compared to more popular sports.

Yes - I believe part of his remuneration is a small amount of shares now.

The value of an MLS franchise is only so high because there's so few of them. They restrict the number of expansion teams. It's supply and demand. No, the reason the value of UK football clubs is so high is due to the inherent value of the Premier League - its brand, its exposure, its media rights, its players. No other league comes close. If anything, I think English football is closer than ever to a PL1 and PL2 situation. I believe the PL is negotiating the Championship/EFL's next broadcasting rights package.

Your last point re soccer/college is valid, and despite claims soccer is booming at youth level, it is undeniably at best a distant 5th professionally in the U.S. behind NFL, basketball, baseball and ice hockey. Parachuting in Messi at great expense will not change that.

Bright Path Sports is a private equity firm, it's not a hedge fund. The fact you can't even make that basic distinction shows that when it comes to cliched trolling of Ipswich Town's business model you're the biggest cowboy of them all.

Or another British club that our ownership group target after they’re done with us. Interestingly I know that O’Leary is working on something new at the moment. Won’t involve Ashton before people get the wrong end of the stick but interesting (and no surprise) that the success here has caught the attention of many.

With nearly 1200 downvotes I understand you are probably not bothered about what others say - or you are a Norwich fan But the tone of your messages on this subject is awful - if you are a Blue Nothing the owners have done since they bought us deserves the tag of “cowboys” “chancers” “kicking it down the line” etc. you have no evidence of any of This Do you ever just feel like stopping the trolling [Post edited 6 Sep 2:24]
