Our defence has improved immeasurably from last season 08:53 - Sep 15 with 10226 viewsMalcolmBlue

We are able to soak up so much pressure. Pretty impressive really, big test next week but if we keep performing like we have in the first few games I’ll be very happy come end of the season.

Very proud tractor boy this morning!

It helps that Greaves is basically Burgess and Wolfenden combined, Tuanzebe is a defensive kyle walker and Davis has found his inner trippier

That’s surprised me more than anything. A lot of it was to do with the way we played, rather than individual errors (I.e we committed so many players forward, that it left us exposed at the back). Greaves has been superb - no doubt doubled in value already. Woolfie has stepped up with ease, so it felt slightly harsh he was left out yesterday (unless he was injured and I missed the news).

Not sure.

There were times we were literally hanging on in there relying on last-ditch tackles and Muric saves. I felt more comfortable the last 15 minutes as we seemed to mop up pretty well, but we were cut to pieces at times. Brighton will be kicking themselves they didn't take their chances.
Think we got that draw through grit and determination and a fair slice of luck. We've still got to do a lot more improving all over the pitch. Work in progress.... let's not get ahead of ourselves. Great point and another building block.

It seems odd saying this after having got 2 points from 4 games but I'm incredibly positive about Town's immediate future. Under KMcK and MA our transfer dealings have been very good but the speed at which our players are gelling is testament to a very savvy coaching staff. Southampton play some wonderful possession football and to the uneducated eye after 30 minutes of play in the matches at St Mary's and the AMEX, Saints have a better side. But Town have an incredible resilience about them while Southampton (Leicester and Everton) look brittle. The results this weekend bear that out.

Despite being around for the Robson years, I have rarely been so excited about our next match and every position we climb in the league between now and January is likely to have a significant bearing on who we land in the next transfer window. These are very very exciting times at our club and there really shouldn't be any negativity concerning our current position among our fans.

This back four will go from strength to strength now. The upgrade in personal has been much needed and it's paying dividends now. Bug it's part of the overall squad development and upgrade. Town will not stand still as Ashton has stated many times. There can unfortunately, be no room for sentiment if we want to become an established PL Club. Something, I think we will achieve.

It will be controversial. But it is me so there we are.

But anymore games like morsys yesterday and he won't be a starter.

He was terrible. Couldn't pass. Couldn't tackle. His performance yesterday was probably his worst in a town shirt.

But it was only one game.

Back to his best next week hopefully but if yesterday was a sign that teams have a way of putting him off his game then we might be seeing cajuste Phillips a lot sooner than first thought.

But. Hutchinson had a mare yesterday to btw besides that run so morsy wasn't alone. And we also played a very difficult side.

It’s almost like Brightons coaching team identifies areas to hurt the opposition. Suffocating Morsy will stop us playing in many ways.
And when he’s up against players a level above him it’s near on impossible for him to come out on top.
It’s going to happen, probably more often than not, but you don’t go into battle without your warriors. And there is no bigger warrior at ITFC than him.

Surprised the Swedish bloke didn’t replace him yesterday tho, with mass coming on instead.

I appreciate the suffocation and it was evident on certain phases of play. But I personally don't think we've seen so many miskicks from morsy under minimal pressure and he was nutmegged about 4 times in 5 minutes, and kinda had spells like that douglas video where he was just jogging around not being able to stamp his authority on the game. He had a bad game it happens to all players.

Think you’re “playing the poster”.

Morsy had a tough afternoon yesterday. He was poor by his standards, and the standards required at this level.

Absolutely certain we’ll analyse it to death to make sure it doesn’t happen again. He’s vital, especially as a leader.

Not so subtle dig at Woolfenden, your pet project …

I don’t get it. Woolfie had been good so far and will be an important part of the squad. He’s not looked out of place against high quality opposition.

O’Shea may be better, we’ll have to see.

The early yellow card didn’t help. He’s managed that situation before but these PL refs are a different proposition.

Having said that, any player who doesn’t perform, whoever they are, will lose their place. Survival is the aim this season and there is no room for sentiment.

I don't think Cajuste will be dislodging Morsy from the team any time soon.

But it's fair comment to say Morsy had a tough afternoon. And it's also fair comment to say that Hutchinson had a bit of a mare by his standards.

I don't get why that's incredibly difficult to read. It's just being honest. It doesn't make them bad players, they just had off days, it happens.

Last ditch tackles and saves? Isn’t that the job of the defenders and keepers we have brought in to improve the defence. We were always going to be hugely reliant on better defensive players who are able to make these kind of challenges as we will always be under the cost more than in previous 30 months.

I always think that defenders who have the ability to get that last second tackle or header are never valued as much as the forwards who fire in a screamer from 25 yards every 10 games, but actually save more points over a season.

Clean sheets generally keep you from relegation whole goal scorers tend to move you up the table.

Been on and off of mine a few times. He seemed to have gotten better, but unfortunately, he has gone back to his old ways. I put him on ignore about 2 weeks ago and he will be staying there forever. Not the sort of person I want to talk to ever again. I would encourage others to do the same if they want a more pleasant experience on here.

Likewise, maybe that is an impression you get from watching the game on the TV but in the ground, I didn't think he was too bad, Morsy struggled with the physicality of the Brighton midfield, as will a lot of teams, but he got closer to them 2nd half and competed well. It's often his off-the-ball contribution that is one of his biggest assets, and his positioning and also coaching of the defense in the 2nd half was something I noticed.
