It wouldn't be surprising tbh. They'll be signings KM wouldn't have directly been involved in. And with johnsons lack of game time it's safe to assume he's been one of them tbh. As much as axel has been solid if KM brought in johnson to be the new rb he would have been in. So I can imagine that chat happening. Something like we've signed johnson what are your thoughts. I don't think it would have been we are thinking of signing johnson what do you think before we do

Of course it's speculation on my part. I'm not pretending otherwise. Just that I can see how that posters post could be true.

100%, we agree that you are speculating and have no idea about the subject or transfers you are "speculating" on and are not pretending otherwise. Hence your opinion can be ignored as having no basis in truth or insight at all. Glad we cleared that up.

Didn't think there was a need to clear anything up tbh. But glad you have and hope it helped.

So you think it's plausible that McKenna asked the kit man his opinion on a potential new signing. Pullen said "don't touch him he is sht". And then McKenna, presumably, said something like, "Well thanks for your feedback. Perty, pop another tick in the "minus" column. Shall we ask Phil Ham next"?! Firstly, if Pullen did have something to say I doubt it was "don't touch him he is sht". And secondly, we signed him anyway, so why bother asking?

Ben Johnson is sht (n/t) on 08:45 - Oct 7 with 2165 views | JammyDodgerrr | Classic new player in a new system with very little match fitness performance, and then the pressure of his old club at that, in a game where basically the whole team was poor. He'll come good.

We’ve not seen enough of Johnson to judge… but early signs have not been goo on 09:15 - Oct 7 with 2115 views | unstableblue | 3.3 on the TWTD player ratings for Johnson is rather damning (Delap, Morsy and Davis were deemed best, which I agree with). Muric has also been criticised, but he did claim some high balls well, and I’m not sure Johnson had any redeeming moments - albeit was involved in our goal I think. The concern with Johnson is he looks quite loose in control, and was panicking. Was giving away possession - who wasn’t! Johnson hasn’t played enough to judge him fully, but I don’t think this negativity is just coming from the West Ham game - he didn’t have a good pre-season. The stand out issue being he was often well out of position. Now he was often playing in the Burns role, so some excuse. But there are a lot of question marks, for someone who is meant to bring Premier quality, and will be on a very high wage. Harry Clarke has two more weeks to get further fit - on the bench Saturday - no doubt they’ll be a full game this weekend for those not away with country for him to build fitness. And I think we’ll see against Everton what McKenna thinks of Johnson so far by who starts in Axel’s place. Axel is a huge loss… watching Mitoma yesterday, I doubt we get the point against Brighton without Axel in position. Note - Someone mentioned Axel looked poor when he came in - from memory didn’t he have a shocker in a cup game, was written off a little, but then played a blinder. Let’s hope for the same from Johnson. But jury out for me.

There won't be any signings KM wasn't heavily involved in or approved. That isn't how we operate. And McKenna would have known absolutely everything about Johnson too - young English players that have come through a PL academy is his field. He's also very close with Liam Manning who managed him in the youth team.

I seem to remember Axel being slow due to coming back from injury. And I seem to remember a certain Mr. Frimmers asking why we signed him saying he'd be injured more than he plays!

No. I think it's plausible that KM keeps In contact with an ex kit man and they just had a football chat like we all do and pullen gave his thoughts. That's all the poster was saying he said anyway. I don't think in anyway KM seeked information more just a general chat about it tbh.

Absolutely I did. He had a Terrible history with Injury and a top club like utd couldn't get him fit... you should then remember for the past year and more I've said I am now not so quick to judge player Injury histories after the steller work town have down with axel so no longer bother looking at injury pasts when transfer links come out.

Why would anyone make anything up? Even if Pullen did tell you this, it could easily have been bravado/ego/alcohol talking. I very much doubt he would actually talk to McKenna like that.

I don't think we need to think too hard to figure that one out. To make yourself look more 'ITK'. No doubt you'll come back all hurt and offended "It doesn't matter what I say" etc etc. Point is, your original post makes it seem like you embellished the rest, "I was told yesterday Mckenna asked James Pullen what was his opinion on Johnson as his a massive west ham fan". If Pullen himself told you, why wouldn't you say, "I spoke to James Pullen yesterday and he told me that McKenna asked him what was his opinion on Johnson as he's a massive west ham fan". Also, don't you find it a bit off, that with our new and very expensive analysis and recruitment team, that McKenna himself would go and ask the fking kit man what he thought? Jean, who does the Tea's was very keen on Jack Clarke, growing praise for him, that confirmed McKenna's thoughts, the rest is history.

Ben Johnson is sht (n/t) on 15:49 - Oct 7 with 1669 views | Europablue | If the criticism isn't constructive, then it is a waste of energy. Tuanzabe is rightly in front of Johnson, but he's injured. There was a really weird atmosphere against West Ham. No wonder Johnson and Phillips had poor matches back there. I can't stand West Ham.

This is a real test of our supporters. I like to think that we are better than the awful West Ham fans, but maybe we've been too successful recently. Are we going to start phoning into the radio saying the McKenna is clueless or are we going to back him and whoever he puts on and accept that he's playing the best players he has and maybe those players will perform better with our full support. It makes me proud as a supporter to here how loud the roar is when we let in a goal to get behind the lads and push them on for an equalizer.

Stop being so pedantic! I'm not trying to be ITK just putting a comment on here like everyone else. Whatever way I or anybody says anything you are going to twist it round. He asked Pullen what he thought of Johnson and that was his reply in so many words . Doesn't mean Mckenna signed him on his advice you plonker [Post edited 7 Oct 2024 17:47]
