MOTD 22:53 - Oct 26 with 10547 views | cymroglas | Shearer wasn't very complimentary about us tonight. That graph of statistics wasn't good reading....but I suppose games are not played using graphs. Interesting that Theo Walcott attributed some of the blame on OShea for the last game. Don't know how stubborn McKenna is...but I'm desperate for Walton to start.

MOTD on 00:23 - Oct 27 by bournemouthblue | Surely that's all complete nonsense given Sheffield shipped close to hundred goals didn't they? |
Although... and I'm quoting a Town fan leaving the ground yesterday who I've never spoken to before.... 'after 9 games Sheff U had conceded 23 goals, we've conceded 20' So we've not far off the Sheff stats at this stage of the season* *If that Sheff stat is correct, I've not checked the Town fan stats
MOTD on 08:53 - Oct 27 with 2840 views | ElephantintheRoom | Go back forty years and Jimmy Hill would be saying the early season honeymoon is now over and the points won early are not reflected in the current state of play Throw in some trendy latter day stats to illustrate the obvious….. letting in 4 goals away is difficult to get points from and losing at home to duds is not a good sign either. The franchise are the worst team in the division on current form….. and the current trajectory is for that to get worse. But hey things can change quite quickly with three other duds and Leicester in the mix.

MOTD on 08:55 - Oct 27 with 2841 views | Swansea_Blue | It's no surprise, as we're struggling. But we'll see how it goes. Muric is a funny one. He keeps us in games with some great saves and then next minute look as composed as Coco The Clown. It was interesting to see Phillips trying to calm him down yesterday. I do wonder whether the shot stopping is worth all the other stuff and the nervousness at the back from him.

MOTD on 23:15 - Oct 26 by Garv | With the amount of top saves Muric is making, I don't see him being dropped anytime soon. It looks like he needs confidence to cut out the mistakes, which he won't get from sitting on the bench. I feel for Walton, but one would imagine him playing would change our natural shape and style a fair bit (not to say he's terrible with his feet). Muric is no.1. Terrible MOTD coverage by the way. Don't think they actually said anything about how we played. [Post edited 26 Oct 2024 23:16]

MOTD? Don't watch it. Haven't done for twenty years or so. Actually I did try it once this season - after Fulham game I think - and was amazed at how they could manage to get so little insight into an hour or whatever, how they could get so little value out of Lineker's salary, and what a load of old bollox most of them talk. On Muric (and O'Shea to an extent) I want to see him smiling and shouting or congratulating and engaging more with the defence. He looks too up tight and not enjoying himself at the moment. I know Vaz wasn't exactly an extrovert, but I think most good keepers need to express themselves and then they tend to make braver and more assertive decisions. He does make some excellent stops. It will take time to rebuild the L1 and Champ camaraderie - I hope KMc can do that, and I'm sure he has it in hand.

I sense the boo boys getting on his back and suspect the home crowd will turn on him the next game we lose. I don't think he's entirely to blame. As a unit we are poor defensively at the moment. Not marking effectively at times, giving the ball away in the area, not clearing it effectively. Too many errors in general are costing us.

MOTD on 09:06 - Oct 27 with 2778 views | Cheltenham_Blue | Shearer et al don't give a sh it about us, they think we are a poor advert for the Premier League and if we are being honest, they generally think that about all promoted clubs that haven't Yo-Yo'd thanks to parachute payments. The vast majority of BBC and Sky 'pundits' believe that the trap door should be closed and there be no promotion to or relegation from the Premier League, as it weakens the 'brand'. The endless conversation about promoted clubs being instantly relegated tells you all you need to know, this is being set up for an end of season discussion on whether or not it is 'worth' having promotion from the Championship. Until we stay up, and then progress, like Brentford, this pattern of disparaging analysis will be repeated over and over and over.

It didn’t take very long at all to wreck the Div 1 and Championship camaraderie. Touting for other jobs whilst the players who built your stellar reputation were still celebrating promotion and the people who took a chance on you were working all hours to get the club ready for the Prem did that well before a ball was kicked. Then worrying more about trousering a few million rather than keeping your goalie made things a tad worse Then panic buying anyone with relegation experience who could be persuaded to join - or leafing through the championship team of the season made things much worse Now a job lot of mercenaries are wondering if McKenna has a blind spot about the need to defend….. I doubt the spirit of previous years will ever return - nor do the players seem to have the grit and determination to see out a grim relegation campaign

Somebody called Rupert who put together a bid for the club and was turned down and turned bitter, so the suggestion goes. The narrative fits with that.

Lineker & Shearer's salary are an insult to licence payers - and that's from one of the Beeb's biggest fans - I actually find much of their other output truly excellent. However, @BBC, here's an idea. Boot Lineker & Shearer & any other overpaid, inept/incompetent/biased presenters/pundits into touch, and instead bring onto the show one supporter from each side in a match, who have demonstrated from their forum posts that they've been to the game & know what they're talking about. Plenty of such fans yesterday on this & Brentford's forum. There you are are Aunty - £1m saved, a more informative, interesting show, & increased viewing figures. Sorted!

MOTD on 08:23 - Oct 28 with 2068 views | forrestsfringe | I haven’t seen Shearer’s comments, but I do think it’s naive of us not to expect criticism when we’re 9 games into the season without a win and have just a) blown a 2 goal lead in our most recent game and b) blown grabbing a point with 10 men because our keeper fell into a coma in the 96th minute. ITFC have not played smart football this month.

I wouldn't mind criticism, in fact I'd appreciate it as it would mean that at least they're paying attention to us. As it is, they just ignore/dismiss us. Totally ignoring our 3 goals, controversial second yellow, fighting back to equalise when down to 10 men etc. Lineker started off OK, but then guest pundit jumped in to completely hijack the entire convo - by the time he'd finished creaming himself over Brentford's style of play, the time no doubt allotted to our game was up. Totally unprofessional of Lineker/Shearer not to stop him & say something along the lines of "and what about Ipswich then?" or whatever.

MOTD on 23:35 - Oct 26 by gainsboroughblue | It was perfect for them to hammer home the obvious narrative though wasn't it? Hey, newly promoted side let's a 2 goal lead slip, lets 4 goals in, gives away a penalty, has a man sent off, concedes injury time goal. Perfect opportunity for a slagging off and a subtext conclusion that we will be fecking off from their private gravy train soon enough. They did score three times and despite being a man down, nearly salvaged a draw? Oh hell, we don't want to talk about that bit. |
When you've actually watched the game, you realise that the pundits on MOTD don't really offer any insight whatsoever. And it doesn't take a genius to work out that there's no way they've actually watched all the games.
