According to the Merseyside police, the Ricin wasn't discovered until early August - at(and required testing to confirm its nature), at which point riots were settling down and arrests for those were being made and the Southport investigation was presumably becoming more complicated because of said discovery.

so if the police and cps want public tensions to settle down, which is a good and worthy objective, it's ok for them to cover stuff up? what happens next time - will anyone believe them?

If there was no risk to the wider public and/or the investigation was still ongoing, why should it become public?
Just curious as to what use sharing this information would have been in August vs now, in fact I’m not even sure what use the information is to the public anyway.
The whole thing is just abhorrent but certain areas of the press and political figures trying to leverage it to gain “points” over the police or gvmt or justify their agenda is equally appalling in my opinion.

Because the CPS and Police asked for it not to be so not to jeopardise the investigation into the person involved?
The police have again reiterated tonight: "At this time, Counter Terrorism Policing has not declared the attack on Monday 29 July a terrorist incident"
It hasn't stopped the normal suspects claiming the two are linked without any shred of evidence though.

Still on bail, still being investigated, presumably at least in part due to the complications of it also involving accusations against the police and parallel IOPC investigation. That’s from what I can gather anyway, as on a couple of weeks ago. This information is in the public domain. It doesn’t have to be a conspiracy. Some cases take years to reach the courts. It’s obviously why widespread civil unrest was fast tracked.
Why on earth do the media outlets continue to peddle photos of him when he was a child? Fosters the wrong image of what is an 18 year old, cold blooded, mass child murderer in my eyes.
Even if they don't have any of him recently (which I have seen on social media myself, doesn't take a genius to find them)...why not just use a court sketch rather than showing an innocent looking young boy?
