I'd be incensed if my club sacked Robins and brought in Lampard. Sh1t the bed.

He is very famous, that's why. He's probably got one more job in him before he's forced to become a pundit and start criticising managers who are infinitely better than him. See also: Keane, R. [Post edited 12 Nov 2024 13:31]

And Shearer, who successfully managed to relegate Newcastle.

That’s being a tad disingenuous- he took over for the final eight matches and before that, including caretakers, they had a few previous managers in that season alone. They were a car crash of a club. Not saying that he was a good manager because he wasn’t but there are a lot of reasons why he wasn’t really responsible for their relegation. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Fat Frank’s Coventry? on 12:57 - Nov 12 with 2514 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | Farcical. Seems most Coventry fans are seething about the sacking of Robins (and rightly so). What a kick in the teeth this would be. The whole sorry episode of Rooney at Birmingham should set off alarm bells around recruiting a ‘name’ with a poor track record.

And Gary Neville. Who was so shlt as a manager he only lasted 4 months. And now the shlt for brains is out there giving opinions to other managers.

He only needed 6 points from 24 with a comparatively good squad. They already had a capable manager in Chris Hughton as caretaker, and he promptly got them straight back up.

People get all starry eyed and think they’ve somehow made it to the big time with a big name manager. Frank Lampard’s Coventry. Yep, got a good ring to it and all will be well. The sponsorship, press interest ‘contacts’, players’ respect for a big name and top player a decade or two ago. Hurrah! Why not bring him in? Well, he isn’t any good. It digs up horror memories of boilerman Keane here. Utterly clueless in every way bar the entertaining press conferences and even they became dull. ‘Roy Keane’s Ipswich’. It did my head in. If Coventry were my club, the likes of Lampard are the last people I’d want anywhere near it.

Agree with this There's a lot more than goes into management than just tactical nous and think it's very reasonable that someone could still be critical of other managers as a pundit, even if they've not been a successful manager themselves. God knows us fans do it!

I’ve no doubt some people thought it a great idea. Many Sunderland supporters wanted Keane instead of Tony Mowbray. Some love a managerial change and a big name.

Fat Frank’s Coventry? on 18:00 - Nov 12 with 1532 views | MK1 | Lampard & Gerrard are 2 who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a half decent club. Think Norwich will be looking soon, so hope for one of them.

Fat Frank’s Coventry? on 18:18 - Nov 12 with 1464 views | Bramidan | Just goes to prove that these appointments have nothing to do with football but more with marketing. We had “Rooney’s ( fill your own club” and now “ Lampards”Coventry. Played for big clubs now trying to manage those far below his skills, appointment of Roy Keane ring ant bells.
