What a sh1t question to ask someone who’s in a role where the average shelf life is less than 12 months.
I’ve no idea why a highly intelligent man like McKenna goes to these events where he just gets asked ridiculous questions by some absolute morons. |  |

I thought it was an excellent question. I know it put Kieran on the spot, but it certainly gave us an indicator of where he is at right now.
I took from it that if he can see enough growth in the project AND we continue on an upward trajectory, it is a project he is quite happy with at this time. I think we all probably knew that is what needs to happen to keep him at the club for a few more seasons, but it is not a bad thing for the owners to hear, who will no doubt be listening. If they want to protect their investment and grow our brand to be akin to what Chelsea grew to be, then they need to keep investing and ensure our manager has everything he needs to get the job done. If they do that, then it will massively de-risk what will happen when he does eventually leave, as we will be so well setup, it will be easy to attract another top class manager at that point.
I think you could argue it is a pointless question, in that if Real Madrid come knocking in 2 months time etc.... I thought it was the best question of the night! How opinions can differ eh! | |

Yes, opinions do differ. Personally I couldn’t see the point of the question. McKenna is hardly going to say ‘I’m tired of boardroom bingo man sitting next to me and I’ll be gone by 12th night if Spurs come calling’, nor is he going to say you’re going to have to drag me and my zimmer out in 30 years time.
We all know the score. Nothing lasts forever. He’s a young manager with a good reputation and a growing cv so when the right club comes calling and he perceives the time is right he will be gone.
The hope is that it won’t be for a year or two yet and Ashton and his merry men have and are doing a bit of succession planning. They clearly had when Cook was hoofed out. [Post edited 20 Nov 2024 7:51]

Personally, I felt that's the first time KM has actually sounded like he wants to see the project through and feels much can be achieved by staying
historically, imo he's always sounded like he wants to leave the club in a good position, but was was very clever in not saying to much about staying himself, After the two recent change of minds to stay, it's the first time i've actually felt a little bit of loyalty from a young manger who was given his first shot at management with us and felt his answer last night was more of what you get from Thomas Frank when he talks of Brentford.
Obviously KM could be lieing anyway, but after all the shte questions last night, it was nice to actually see one that actually made the club representatives think and give an answer which wasn't pre planned or answered like a politician. | |
