“Tractor boys” 10:38 - Nov 25 with 5503 views | CopfordBlue | Do any of you like the nickname or use the term when talking about our club? I’ve never liked it but it’s only now that we’re back in the premier league and feature more prominently in the national media that it’s really starting to grate.

It’s certainly not for everyone…. on 10:42 - Nov 25 with 3465 views | Bloots | ….and definitely not me! But, I guess it’s good for the new generation and obviously the kids love it. Probably makes us plenty in merch. Luckily the mainstay is still “Come on Town!!” and not “Come on The Tractorboys!!” That would be a step too far.

“Tractor boys” on 10:47 - Nov 25 with 3403 views | Whos_blue | I can't stand it and never have. Makes us sound like a bunch of low intelligence bumpkins. I never use it and don't sing the songs that include it either. We're the Town. Always have been.

Or super blues, I don’t mind that one. Probably because it was our nickname when I was a kid. I agree with you. It plays into the stereotype. Players and managers who come here often stay in the area after their time at the club is over but I do wonder if the nickname has a negative impact when trying to persuade players to come to the club. It obviously hasn’t put them all off because we’ve made some fantastic signings but I’m sure that some don’t fancy it because of the perception.

“Tractor boys” on 11:13 - Nov 25 with 3271 views | GavTWTD | I didn't used to like it, but I think if its embraced with humour then its a good thing. At least its unique unlike "The Super Blues" which could describe plenty of other teams.

“Tractor boys” on 11:18 - Nov 25 with 3225 views | Tractor_Buck | I love it. Everyone knows who we are, and the fact that we started it as an ironic response to so called bigger clubs attempting to take the piss makes it even better. I use it interchangeably with 'Town (Towen)' or 'Blues', but I find myself cringing when I hear Super Blues. To me, that feels like something dreamed up by a marketing agency with little connection to the club.
“Tractor boys” on 11:21 - Nov 25 with 3185 views | Chris_ITFC | It gives us a unique identity, unlike the many generic / shared “Town”, “Blues”, “Super Blues” versions, or the many copied terrace songs across the country. For that alone, I like it.

Fully agree with you here Gav. I wasn't keen on it when it first came about but I'm older and don't take it so seriously now. I have never liked "Super Blues" there's no individuality in that at all. Embrace it, it's great to have an identity even if it is a little tongue-in-cheek. [Post edited 25 Nov 2024 11:27]

I get the whole history of the generic nicknames, but I like the uniqueness of Tractor Boys. For example, they who shall not be named get to share their nickname with...checks notes...Hitchin Town and Barwell. (NB: When either of those teams play at Telford I flatly refuse to use the nickname on the PA). There's only one Tractor Boys and I'm proud of that. [Post edited 25 Nov 2024 11:31]

I love the nickname Tractor Boys But really it needs to be said with the proper Suffolk accent... Long aaaa sound and miss out the middle t.....and give it a bit of OI in the second word Super Blues is super-cringe....sounds like a bloody toilet cleaner that Kenneth Williams endorsed

Not sure why the club never really developed a nickname as such before that came into use, although I guess Tractor Boys is better suited to the history of the Town than some other options . . .

I don't like it but we have had the label for 20 years and some of our fans like it some don't, we're stuck with it now but I can live with it.

It's going to be the new question to divide the forum, Fordson or Massey Ferguson ? (Clearly John Deere's colour scheme puts them out of the equation.)
