Very scrappy game with a whistle happy ref. We didn't get going though (other than the first 25).

Felt like we could have taken some shots from good positions at the end there that we overplayed and lost the opportunity.

Forest a bit too streetwise, interesting to see the gap on quality against a side with 2 - 3 more phases of transfers windows I guess

Forest were poor. The worrying thing is we couldn't take advantage of it.

As someone else said, the only upside is a team that poor can be one point off second.

It was a real physical battle of a game that, both sides knackered well before the end. We just came out on the wrong side of one slightly debatable (no complaints) decision. Don't agree with your assessment at all.

Some good little moments from Broadhead when he came on - looked at home straight away - but we looked short of ideas up front once Hutch went off and Delap was hopefully saving a bit for Tuesday. J Clarke will bag one soon.

They weren't poor - clearly set out to be solid and keep us out while using Wood as the outlet to build attacks which they did pretty well. Shackled Delap as well as any team this season.

Bit like a souped up version of when we used to come up short against Rotherham in league one - struggled to deal with the physicality and couldn't find the quality to unpick a mean defence.

Agreed, they're one of those

Big, physical, direct and rugged, not an easy side to deal with

We had a worrying lack of goal threat and Axel could be out injured for a little while so a bad day all-round

We'll struggle against those sides all season - ignore the first two matches as they're a bit different, 3 of the other 4 losses have been against sides that are considered fairly low brow or unadventurous by Prem standards but are just tougher and meaner than we are.

Games that we can turn into a bit more of a football match see us have more of a chance. We need to grow up a bit before we can deal with those sorts more effectively but that will take time and probably a season's worth of experience.

I guess the question is are we learning, or do we have the squad to consistently compete against these kinds of sides. It's been an issue for us since Mick left really - and under him we were one of those teams we'd now struggle against.

"Streetwise", that's the word I was looking for. Savvy, knowing how to win a Prem game dirty, dark arts.....

Go to Forest ... enjoy 55% possession ... could have nicked a point .... hardly call it a whimper.

They just shaded it.

They would probably say we were poor and should have taken advantage of it more than just scoring a lucky penalty.

Why do people say such silly things. Forest weren’t poor. They are streetwise, and we offered very very little

Toothless in that final third today. You felt soon as we went behind, game over. Forest had a bit more EPL knowhow than us, got the job done and the 3pts. We need to look more of a threat when attacking, especially in these types of matches. I still feel we pass the ball too slowly at times and mainly in front of sides which makes it easy for organised teams to keep us at arm’s length.

We looked very good first half, pretty poor second half tbh. Energy dropped and some silly mistakes crept in. Not much in it though, 1-0 was fair enough.

Wouldn’t ‘effective’ be a better description? It doesn’t have to be pretty.
