At AGM, Mark Ashton, Luke Werhen and Tom Ball answering questions on 19:28 - Dec 9 by PhilTWTD | MA Clubs promoted alongside us, had been in the Premier League recently, so from FFP perspective we start behind them because they'd got parachute payments. We start from a position of disadvantage, so have to do it our way. Heart and soul will make sure we move forward. |
Programme kiosks unable to sell programmes because no 5G and problems with tills in shop. And when wifi in ground? TB: Weren't aware re programmes. Will take that offline and with retail manager. Re wifi, close to £1m. Centre forward or wifi? Have looked at third party partnership, something may work towards, is being looked at, but won't be tomorrow.

MA asked re Soccerex comments. Stability is built over time, relationships developed over time. Can't be done short-term. Said five years when I came in, that's not enough, club is so big. That's why all got to be together and be in it for the long term.

Asked re pre-season, US tournament? MA: We are doing a lot of work on this. Timing has to be right. Key stakeholders have to be involved. Won't be next summer, will be in Europe, busy summer around club. But looking at timelines, how we do that, but is in our plans. If we want to do it, we want to do it well. But it is on horizon.

Club didn't handle move of season ticket holders from where media area is now well. Poorer seats. For our loyalty, deserved better. MA: Had no option, PL say it's going to happen, those seats need to go. Where we have to look at ourselves, is how we best move people. When you explain challenges we've got, most fans appreciate situation. Change brings pain and difficulty. I respect and understand people have sat in same place with same people and understand pain. Ticket office staff had difficult task. Not sure we could have done it differently but could have communicated better. Don't deliberately go out to upset fans. Premier League brings challenges, success brings challenges. Have to get the balance between fans who have been around for a long time and younger new fans coming into the club. This stadium isn't big enough and ultimate challenge is to expand.

MA asked how vote at next VAR meeting? MA I'll abstain! Told by other clubs recently promoted that we weren't going to like it. Celebrating a goal, can't do so properly. Shareholder says ruins came for him. MA: "Well said."

What's length of MA's contract? Signed for 10? MA: Not sure I'll be around in 10! Made commitment to this fanbase to do my all, be part of community. Wake up each day, thoughts are how we get better. Asked people around me to move families here as well. I'm going to be here as long as I'm wanted. That's your lot!

Leaking roofs on 19:29 - Dec 9 by stonojnr | thats called humidty and caused by the cool temperatures, the metal framework of the stand being very cold, and with thousands of people breathing out air beneath, which is around 60-90% humidity, it rises up meets the really cold beams, condenses back into water on the beams, that then drop on people. just physics, not leaks. |
Cheers Stoners. I was always a humanities student. Though I did get a B in Physics O level, which surprised me even more than my teacher.

Abstain?! I am surprised clubs don't vote to scrap this system. I couldn't even fully celebrate Chaplin's goal yesterday as I saw some Bournemouth players arguing and thought perhaps VAR would spot some minor infringement to rule the goal out. We need instant decision making in matches. Thanks for the excellent updates Phil, very informative. I am pleased with nearly everything MA is saying, just annoyed by VAR. Been going on for ages. On this board too. People are obsessed with in stadium Wi-Fi totally ignoring the fact that almost no clubs have working Wi-Fi for supporters. Sad thing is, they only want it to get the scores in the main. Same with the dividends. What would they rather, a properly funded club, or their dividends?

So good to have MA fighting and rooting for us; my thanks to him (and all others behind the scenes doing likewise). Also thank you Phil, no mean feat to get all that transcribed and online as you go 👍

I actually asked the guy next to me in V3 yesterday what network he was on, as he had no trouble getting updates from SKY, whereas my 5G reporting O2 was running like an unplugged 28.8k modem… Nice bloke though. One of the things I like about going to matches by myself, the random conversations with strangers.

At AGM, Mark Ashton, Luke Werhen and Tom Ball answering questions on 19:16 - Dec 9 by PhilTWTD | Question on PLC shareholders no longer receiving dividends. TB: Came as condition of fundraising. If someone is willing to put £120m into the club as equity with alternative option debt, seemed was the best approach. Questioner says small shareholders have been sold down the river TB: Football clubs very rarely pay dividends and didn't envisage doing so. PLC was illiquid at time of takeover, Gamechanger opted to keep the PLC but not as a financial decision, more for goodwill. |
This is the dividend story from April if anyone missed it. No Dividends For PLC Shareholders 29th Apr 2024 10:18The board of the Ipswich Town PLC has written to its shareholders confirming that its stake in the club has now reduced to less than one per cent and outlining that any dividends taken out of Town in future will go solely to majority owners Gamechanger 20 Ltd. 27

Long-term thing, since they came in, I think. MA is still very involved in that area but LW takes charge of the day to day.

“There were a few drips around…” That’s usually the case. Most left after the second goal yesterday.

youd think with a gigantic screen and electronic advertising they could somehow show the scores at halftime...Im sure that used to be a thing back in the day, and having them read out.

At AGM, Mark Ashton, Luke Werhen and Tom Ball answering questions on 19:01 - Dec 9 by PhilTWTD | Now answering questions. First question not a question but thanking MA for success over last couple of seasons. Applause Second questioner sends best wishes to Simon Milton. Asks about MA being chairman and CEO. MA: Role hasn't changed. Mike is a very close friend, remains one, but the way we run the business hasn't changed. Split business in two, Tom Ball responsible for finance and business and Luke Werhun in charge of football. A team behind the team. I manage the people who run the business. Culture is key. I'm the key link up to the US, to Ed Schwartz and Bright Path. Matt Holland added to board to keep a link to the club's traditions. Learnign curve for Matt. But my role hasn't changed. |
