We have to stay up so that he signs permanently. Will be a tragedy if we lose him.

Liam Delap on 22:20 - Dec 30 by Dubtractor | That was a proper 10/10 performance from Delap, wasn't it? Absolutely unplayable. |
Certainly was. I watched with my mate and his son who is currently in the academy, reckons he's advised to just watch Delap. Absolute text book example of how to play as a centre forward that tonight. His movement is so natural. Decision making could be sharper at times but that'll come with more time.

Liam Delap on 22:19 - Dec 30 by Swansea_Blue | He's more full on Kuqi with only a hint of Pablo. Or rather, Kuqu wearing hobnail boots and carrying a battering ram but still able to sprint quicker than Danny Haynes. I'm not sure he's human actually. |
Let's stop comparing Delap to our former players - he is the Winchester Ronaldo (proper Ronaldo, not the posey Portuguese chap)

Liam Delap on 22:58 - Dec 30 by textbackup | He ran more tonight than I’ve ever seen, and he stayed on longer… Is this KM knowing we have a new face coming through the doors in the next couple of days? Because he’s been taken off far earlier in other games. |
I think it was KMc knowing we had to keep him on because he was playing so well.

Richard Naylor ... psycho! Unless you mean Ian Marshall. [Post edited 30 Dec 2024 23:11]

More recent than that. (Checks Google) Ollie Hawkins. [Post edited 30 Dec 2024 23:16]

So glad he wasn't taken off. It was vital he stayed on to keep the ball up their end of the pitch. Can't afford the drop off his absence leaves.

Yep, need similar from him Sunday then hopefully y the time we next play a league game we’ll have ourselves a bit more depth in that department.

I can’t wait to watch him when he’s about 26/27 and he’s gained the ability to hold it up better, whilst also still having his youthful excitement to just burst forward and shoot with 3 defenders around him! Big player for England I’m sure of it

I wonder if Hirst is nearly ready for a return and/or we have a signing lined up for early in January. Both of those happening would help a lot.

Liam Delap on 09:40 - Dec 31 with 761 views | cymroglas | I completely agree. I said something similar on here. And I love seeing him play and the effort he gives. He has zero respect for reputation and big name defenders. Could have scored a hat rick last night. One thing i have noticed is how good he is at shooting from tight angles. Should be capped by England soon.

Liam Delap on 22:17 - Dec 30 by ArnoldMoorhen | We always used to argue about Pablo v Shefki back in the day. Class and Vision v Power and Desire. Now we have Liam Delap, who has as much of each of those qualities as them combined in one player. He took on THREE Chelsea defenders from the Half Way line, as 21 year old with less than 20 Premier League appearances, ran them ragged, got a shot on target and won a corner. He's better than either Counago or Kuqi, and is as good as (and similar in style to) Dalian Atkinson, in my opinion. |
I was thinking the same - it's like watching Atkinson.

That's right, and to be honest, I don't necessarily buy this idea that a 21 year can't last 90 minutes, given that a 33 year old Morsy does week in week out. The adrenalin of playing so well would have given him an extra boost, and he has 6 days to recover.

There were a couple of times last night where he was running and seemed to be running out of steam - only to produce shots on target that required good saves. I was really impressed to be honest

Liam Delap on 22:43 - Dec 30 by Bluecasp | Best performance since Dalian Atlinson vs Middlesborough |
I have to point out again that Dalian was up against weak central defenders, namely Tony Mowbray and Gary Pallister.

For me, Delap is a long way behind Stewart at the moment. And it’s hard to compare the two. Stewart could create a goal out of nothing but a pinch of wizardry and a drop of the impossible. Delap smashes down the door and pulls your pants down once he’s inside. Both are the worth the entrance fee alone.
