Gut feeling - are we getting a new striker? 19:59 - Jan 15 with 7699 viewsJrm_72

Just what do you feel in your bones, yea or neigh?

To be clear, not wishing to make a wider point nor stir them up, just wondering what people feel seeing as we all know nowt about what goes on inside the club.

I feel no for what its worth...

We absolutely have to. We can't rely on Hirst staying fit and even if he does, we need that third option.

Also, I worry that Texty would otherwise explode.

I have doubts that a forward player of sufficient ability is available at the moment and wonder if Ashton wants to keep his powder dry until the summer. This will put the onus on the medical team keeping Hirst as fit as possible (and keeping an eye on the seemingly indestructible Delap too) whilst McKenna is going to have to develop Al~Hamadi at an unprecedented rate (and nominate at least three other players to take penalties ahead of him...) He is getting better but still some way off what we need.

I have a feeling it’s either a no or someone who will be underwhelming, purely based on how many teams need strikers.

I think we will, but only to be the #3. So not some big name or we'll known player. Maybe another youngster, but someone a step above AAH.

I don’t think we will.

There will be clubs who have a striker crisis who will not/may not get a striker this window. Arsenal West Ham and Brighton to name a few. It’s a tough market to get one in January.

Yes we need a third choice striker and would be lovely to upgrade AAH and even Hirst. But 2/3 teams above and arguably Arsenal would love to have Delap right now.

Yes, not getting one might well relegate us.

Sounds like Brighton are happy to let Ferguson out on loan, I would say we would be a good option, would get minutes known for improving young players.

The only Muff in Town.

Yes, I think we'll go all out for Ferguson on loan.

I know Arsenal and West Ham have been linked, but Brighton will want him to get minutes and my guess is don't want him going to a team that could finish above them in the league.

Gut feel is no. There are too many other teams needing one

West Ham X 2, Palace, Everton, Man U, Leicester, Arsenal just to name some.

Hope I’m wrong

We want one and will go all out to get one.

West Ham will almost certainly be able to give him minutes and he'd be joining back up with Potter who gave him his debut

I can't imagine we won't bring a striker in . We can't afford not to a injury to Delap or Hirst and we are struggling big time.
Not sure who or where from buy or loan.

I think we will try a variety of options, end up with a youngster on loan and two members of this forum will have the biggest public meltdown ever seen.

I pretty much did when the summer window shut so not much left of me!

However, we HAVE to get in a striker. For the reasons you’ve put 😎

I think you and I may have posted about this at the same time when the summer window shut. You’ve obviously worded it far better, and nicer than I have though.

For the money we’ve spent/spending and the sound bites that MA comes out with, I just can’t believe they’ll leave it to chance that Delap continues to remain fit, and Hirst doesn’t break down again and can get some important goals.

Why give KM a massive new contract to keep him, and give us the best chance of stay up by having him, then not providing the tools required.

I’m gonna stop now before I cry

Everyone agrees we need to and I think you are right about Texters.

I feel like we won't but we will still do enough to stay up!

I suppose the issue comes with finding someone they think can make an impact at this level. We’ll clearly spend if we feel we’ve got that player - see Broja in the summer, albeit him failing a medical and it looks like we done well to not go ahead with that.

I do think we’ll break the bank on one this window though, will be towards the end of the month though.

FFP. Whether our signings have been hit or miss is debatable, but the fact is if Philogene signs we've spent approx. £125M since promotion so probably can't afford anything other than a loan.
